Harry Potter awoke to a loud banging on his door. He looked over to his nightstand and put on his glasses.
"HARRY POTTER! IF YOU DON'T COME OUT OF YOUR ROOM THIS INSTANT, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO GET ANY FOOD FOR A WEEK!" Yelled the voice of Uncle Vernon.
"Yes, Uncle." Responded Harry.
Harry stepped out of his room and saw his uncle. He winced when he saw the belt in Vernon's hand. Uncle Vernon beckoned Harry to follow him. Harry slowly did. He led Harry downstairs, to the backyard. Once outside, Harry's uncle dragged him to the shed and shoved him inside.
"Do you know what you did?" Yelled Vernon, angrily.
"No sir." Replied Harry. Vernon whipped Harry once with the belt.
"You missed a spot on the mirror in the bathroom." Claimed Vernon with veins popping out of his head from anger.
"Oh. I'm so sorry Sir," said Harry.
"Tomorrow we're taking Dudley out for the day. We will get home at 9:00 pm sharp. If the house isn't completely clean, there will be serious consequences." Said Uncle Vernon. "And just to get my point through, you get 15 whips on your back." Uncle Vernon pulled off Harry's shirt and started to whip him.

The next morning, when Harry awoke, the house was completely silent. Harry sighed in relief. He decided that today was the day he was going to leave the Dursleys, for good.
He had been planning this for a while but he never had the chance to follow through with it. What he was going to do is leave at 8:00 pm, then run as far away from the Dursley's as possible and then send an owl to Ron informing him that he was headed to The Burrow. The only problem was that Harry had to use magic to unlock the front door, even though he wasn't allowed. If Harry used magic, he could get expelled for using magic outside of school. It was risky, but he decided that he could just have a trial and fix it. For now, Harry needed to pack.

8:00 pm
Harry had his wand out, ready to unlock the front door. He took a deep breath and then said, "Alohomora!"
The door then unlocked in an instant. Harry rushed out and started to run as far as possible from the house. Harry ran and ran dragging his trunk and Hedwig behind him. Harry kept running until he reached a forest in the rural part of London, he rushed into it, going deeper and deeper until he was in the heart of the forest. Then, he let Hedwig out of her cage. Harry opened his trunk to get a quill, parchment, and ink to write a letter to Ron. This is what the letter said:
Dear Ron,
I think it's time to tell you that I have been abused by the Dursleys. Today I ran away from their house. At the moment I'm in a forest, in the rural part of London. I was wondering if I could stay at The Burrow until school started. Would that be okay? I am going to start to head there until further notice. Can you please inform your father, Sirius, Remus, and Dumbledore just in case something goes wrong? I know I'm asking a lot, but I really need help. I will explain everything in more detail once I see you.

Harry reread the letter and then tied it to Hedwig and told her to bring it to Ron. Harry watched as she flew away and then started walking to find a place to sleep for the night. He searched the forest for about an hour until he found a small cave. He stepped inside and sat down. He started to slowly drift off to sleep, but then he heard a loud bang! Harry grabbed his wand and held it out. He watched as someone entered the cave. The next thing he knew, he was out cold...
