Ricken (In-game strategy)

Though still not one of the best units in my team, Ricken has tons of potential to be really strong. One of these main factors is that not only does he wield tomes, but he also has access to the Cavalier classes, like Chrom. Second sealing him into a Paladin and Great Knight gives Ricken access to Aegis and Luna, two pretty good skills.

Current skills:

- Limit Breaker: Extends all stat caps by 10

- Lifetaker: While attacking, restores 50% HP if the enemy is defeated

- Tomefaire: Grants Mag +5 if using a tome

- Aegis: Halve bow/tome/dragonstone damage. Trigger % = (Skill stat)

- Luna: Halve enemy Def/Res when attacking. Trigger % = (Skill stat)

Other:

- Mag +2: Grants Mag +2

- Slow Burn: Increases Hit/Avoid by 1 each turn. Effect ends after 15 turns.

- Focus: Grants Crit +10 when there are no allies within three spaces

- Defender: Grants +1 to all stats while paired with another unit

- Rally Magic: Use "Rally" to grant Mag +4 to units within 4 spaces for one turn

Current class is Dark Knight and Lvl 12

Stats:

Str: 34

Mag: 47 + 5

Skill: 45

Spd: 50

Lck: 56

Def: 46

Res: 29

Many people argue which class is better, Dark Knight or Sage. Some argue that Sages have higher a higher Mag and Res cap, while Dark Knights swap most of their Res with Def. To me, Ricken seems as a better Dark Knight since Aegis can help with Res and Tomefaire does help with Mag. His rating is also higher, making Dark Knights seem more well-rounded, and mounted units have larger movement ranges. Sages also tend to have much higher Res compared to Def, making them more susceptible to axe, lance, sword, and bow users. Dark Knights are the exact opposite. Really, it's your choice.

For people who don't have access to the DLC skill Limit Breaker, I would replace it with Defender, as it grants +1 to all stats while paired up.

My Ricken achieved an S Support with Miriel, getting a pretty nice Laurent (as well as maybe more canon?). This way, Laurent can still focus as a tome-wielder and at the same time be able to get Luna and Aegis, unlike maybe a Stahl!Laurent or Frederick!Laurent. Unfortunately, Laurent is unable to get Galeforce, no matter which father he has.

(Not really much to say for Ricken... I'll probably be doing some 2nd Gens soon.)
