Papa generously lent us his car for the day, knowing they wouldn't need it since they had arranged transportation for the conference meeting. Silas and I were on our way to pick up Gabriel before Morgan headed out for her event.

"I brought my camera," Silas said with a grin.

I couldn't help but chuckle and shake my head playfully. "Of course you did," I replied, knowing his love for photography.

As we waited outside the house, memories of my childhood flooded my mind. This was the place I had grown up in, spending eighteen years of my life here. While there were only a handful of happy memories, I couldn't deny the nostalgia that washed over me.

Silas noticed my distant gaze and asked, "Do you want to wait inside?"

I smiled weakly and declined his offer. "That won't be necessary. They're coming," I said, just as Morgan and Gabriel emerged from the house with their bags and backpacks.

Silas and I hurriedly went to help Morgan load her luggage into the trunk of the car. Gabriel dashed inside, eager for the day's adventure, while we were occupied at the back.

"Thank you so much for filling in my space, Isla. You've been doing so much to me and I can't help but to feel bad because you're supposed to be enjoying your marriage but you're here babysitting Gabriel," Morgan apologized.

I laughed off her concerns, assuring her once again, "How many times should I tell you that it's really fine? I swear! I love spending my time with Gabriel, and I know Pier's too. There's no need to apologize. Just focus on your job and we'll handle Gabriel, okay?"

Relieved, Morgan hugged me tightly, expressing her gratitude. "Thanks, you're the best," she said.

I playfully tapped her back and teased, "I know."

Looking inside the car, I checked on Gabriel and saw him happily munching on his snack. "Are you ready for your family day, Gab?" I asked with a smile.

His eyes lit up with excitement as he nodded vigorously. "Yes, I am! I want you to meet my friends at school. We're going to have so much fun, and there will be games and food!" he exclaimed.

I grinned, sharing in his excitement. "Sounds like a great day ahead," I replied.

After saying our goodbyes to Morgan at the airport, Silas and I embarked on the short drive to Gabriel's school for the eagerly anticipated family day. The journey took no more than fifteen minutes, and as we parked the car, we gathered the bags and materials needed for the program from the trunk.

As we strolled towards the entrance of the school, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. Family day was a big deal for Gabriel, and I wanted to make sure everything went smoothly for him. I glanced at the program brochure to familiarize myself with the activities and my eyes landed on one particular task that caught my attention.

"Do you know how to build a tent?" I inquired, turning to Silas.

He paused for a moment, considering my question. "Yeah, I think I have enough knowledge to build one. Why do you ask?" he replied, genuinely curious.

I nodded, showing him the program instructions. "It looks like we're supposed to set up a tent here," I explained.

"Oh," was his simple response, his expression a mixture of surprise and amusement.

Once inside the school premises, we followed the signs that led us to the designated area for the family day. Excited voices and laughter filled the air, and children darted around with boundless energy.

As we reached the spot for our tent, I spread out the canvas on the grass while Silas assembled the poles. Together, we worked on building the tent, our movements in sync as if we had done this countless times before. With the tent finally standing tall and sturdy, we stepped back to admire our handiwork. "Not bad, huh?" Silas remarked with a sense of accomplishment.
