                                                                       VIO

"When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us."

“Oh,san ka na pupunta nyan?” Jake asked me while I was trying to sneak out. It’s 6 hrs before the party, pero hanggang ngayon I’m still not sure if Ava is going to come.

“Wala.”

“Sus,anong wala? We all know you’re up to something.”

“Uyyy, susunduin nya si Ava!!” Tinignan ko sila ng masama, and fortunately, that shut them up. Although a few seconds later, they’re back to being like elementary kids teasing me.

“Lul. Hindi a.” I closed the door and from behind, I could still hear them laughing.  =.= This is exactly why sometimes, ayokong nag-oopen up sa kanila especially when it comes to the matters of the heart. Minsan ginagawa nilang biro kaya mas prefer ko kung may kasamang alak, kasi the next day, ako lang nakakaalala. And they’re actually serious and vulnerable when they’re drunk as in. I’ve seen Qen cry once, nagyaya syang lumabas nun. Mag-bar daw kami, takte. It was a one hot afternoon and it was fucking Monday! Pero dahil bffs nga kaming 3, osige, nagsipayagan kami, we ditched our afternoon classes and headed straight to Nostalgia (a high-end bar).  Qen never said anything then, puro gulp lang ng beer and tequila shots. We had to call someone to help us carry him because he was so fcked up, buti wala nun sila mommy sa bahay kaya dun na lang namin dinala si Qen. He was crying silently, hindi nga namin sya ma-gets nun. Basta alam namin nun that there was something wrong, two days after, bigla syang nawala. Umalis na pala papuntang States.

I didn’t know why I was so nervous when I arrived at the front gate of God’s Gift Orphanage 2 hours after, nakaka-chicken. Pakiramdam ko, kakainin ako ng buhay nung gate. It didn’t help that the guard was staring at me intently.

Lumabas ako ng kotse na medyo alanganin, tapos pumasok ulit ako.

I had to remind myself not to be a fucking sissy, I mean.. Ano ba Vio, you’re not asking for her hand in marriage, aren’t you? Ba’t ambading mo?

I took a deep breath, and went out again.

“Sht. No. Alis na lang ako bahala na.” Bubuksan ko na sana ulit yung pinto when I heard a voice calling me from behind.

“Excuse me,sir. May problema ba?” sabi nung guard as he approached me. Baka isipin neto may balak akong masama-.- Way to get noticed, Vio.Well-played. K

“Po?”

He laughed. “Uhm. . .”

“Manong Guard, may letter na ba galing---” bigla kong narinig yung pamilyar na boses.

Shit.Shit. Shit.

Tangina!!!

I had to turn around and find a place to hide so she wouldn’t see me. Nakakahiya pota.

“Naku, Avs, wala pa e. Teka, may kina—O asan na yung kinakausap ko dito?”

I closed my eyes, clearly not wanted to be seen hanggang sa bigla akong tinuro ni manong guard at inilabas mula sa pagkakatago ko.

“Oh,ayan pala o, Abs! Kilala mo ba to?” Ava looked at me, as though a ghost just appeared right in front of her eyes.

“Vio?” I smiled weakly, almost looking like a stupid kid who got caught in the act of eating candies when he wasn’t supposed to.
