I walked in and listened to the quiet chaos and calling of names of people who's orders were ready as I set my Mac up in the corner of the shop. The leather of the chair was cold on my skin, and I could feel the cracks of the worn out arm rests on my finger tips. I set up my MacBook so it would be open to my poem I was working on, and went to go place a quick order.
"Alright, what is it you would like?" A preppy girl that seemed about my age, 18 was wearing a Carin' Beans apron, and was a little on the chunky side with her hair up in a messy bun and sparkly blue eyeshadow to compliment her gray blue eyes. I've always wanted blue eyes, but my genes chose a different recessive gene for me, bright red hair, and light freckles sprinkled across my nose and cheeks faintly.
"I think I'll have a Carmel frappe- wait no, a hazelnut mocha!" I replied.
"Yes ma'am. And may I know who this order is for?"
"Wish Going," I replied. I tucked my short wavy hair behind my left ear and fixed my jean dress. I waited a little while, messing with the buckle on my brown pumps and taking on and off my brown leather choker. My bangs blew in my face when the door to the little cafe opened so i just fixed them back into place before i looked up to see who had decided to ruin my peace with that annoying glass door. I was left sorta breathless when i looked up to make eye contact for a split second with a gorgeously tall man. Light brown colored skin and dark brown curly hair with thin rimmed glasses and hazelnut brown eyes. He was wearing black ripped jeans with a plain white t-shirt tucked in and a jean jacket over top.
"WISH GOING! HAZELNUT MOCHA!" I heard my name screamed. I must not have heard them the first time. I quickly walked to the counter and retrieved my coffee apologizing for not coming sooner and tipped the girl at the counter.
I made it back to my table to resume my writing and noticed the boy sitting at the booth directly in front of me. Just sitting there with his book. A Tell Tale Heart. Didn't except him to have such similar taste as mine. I got up to get a coaster from the stack on the front desk. I passed by mystery boy's table and noticed a stack of books. A large stack of books. I noticed "The Iliad" was one of the books among the many books in his stack. He must enjoy a lot of good literature. I grabbed my coaster and made my way back to my table.
After about three 30 oz. cups of hazelnut mocha, the sun began to set and people began to leave. The girl who took my order about 3 hours ago began to sweep behind the counter. I noticed I was starring when she made a weird face at me and i smiled and looked away, back to the boy who oddly, was still here. He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes. Since it was just us three left in here you could hear the music more clearly that was being played, i recognized the song as White Teeth Teens by Lorde. One of my favorite songs. I quietly hummed along, then the boy looked up at me and we made eye contact. I didn't look away this time. Neither did he. He began to smile then quietly laugh. I was confused but I started to giggle a little bit. He got up, leaving behind his books and walked over to my table and offered out his hand. This time i did look at him confused. "Yes?" I said confused.
He answered saying, "Star seeing." He had the largest grin in the world, it was hard not to laugh when he was like this. I smirked a little and took his hand.
He ran with my sweaty hand in his cold one to the counter and asked the woman working behind the counter to please watch our stuff till 10:30.
"Sure Jackson. I did not think you did this anymore."
It was odd to me she knew his name or that this use to be normal for him.
He winked at her then looked over at me and grinned, turning back to the girl who got me coffee and said, "you can't admire stars with a star. You have to find an element that you know is going to become part of one." He looked over at me with a mixed expression i couldn't read and said, "you're an element today. Tonight."
With that he turned around, us still hand in hand, and we left. We ran laughing to his beat up old red truck and drove to a huge open field. He began to blast A World Alone from his speakers and lit sparklers he got from the back of his truck. He gave me one and winked. For the first time, he let go of my hand and began running. Away from the truck, away from me. Away.
I had a confused but happy expression on my face and began to run after him with my lit sparkle that would burn my hand every so often. I screamed out of joy and once my sparkler ran out i threw it into the rest of the empty field just like he did. Just like him.
We both collapsed in the field and he looked at me, laying in the field. "Aren't you going to look up?" he said.
I turned my head upwards to see the sky full of stars and no moon. It was a new moon tonight, and although it is a very important feature of the sky, i think i like it better when it is invisible. Clouds were visible and looked grey, moving fast, but there was no wind. Not tonight.
"Stars?" I asked.
"No," he said looking up. "Star seeing.'' He emphasized the word seeing.
I fell asleep in the field, only to wake up seeing a note in his place that read:
You were an element. Now you're a star. You can't go back, but trust me you won't want to. ;)
Along with the note I noticed A Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe was also left. I began to panic on the inside thinking about how I would get back to the cafe and saw that there was a red mustang, probably rented sitting a small ways away in the field. I got up taking the note and the book and walked to the car, grabbing the keys on the top of it along with the second note that said:
Uh, rented. Leave it at the cafe and i will take it back to the place i got it from.
I shook my head got in the car and started it, driving back to the cafe to drop off the mustang and pickup my silver Toyota and go home to read my new book.

This is my first chapter and I would appreciate votes and comments. Both would be greatly appreciated! I really enjoyed writing this and it may be my favorite book i have worked on.
