The next couple of days were fairly busy for you, despite having no work. Your monster friends were overjoyed to see you again, and they were quick to fill you in on what had happened while you were away. No one could really stop the tears from falling, and by the time the whole incident died down, you're eyes were sore.

Sans also needed to be taken care of, and from what you heard from Flowey, Sans had refused to accept any health care. You silently cursed him for it, for being so stubborn, but you loved him for it.

"...A-and we made a recent breakthrough with magic." You were currently walking with Alphys towards the laboratory. She had said that she developed some type of medicine for Sans, he just never got around to taking it.

"A breakthrough?"

"Yes!" She started to fumble with her hands in excitement. "It's a concept only magicians could attempt and succeed in, and I believe that every magician here should know of it."

You felt your eyebrows rise in interest as you both approached a sealed up door; obviously security had improved since you had been away. The dinosaur-like monster let out a smile and began to input a password and held her hand against the hand-like scanner. Within seconds, the door lifted upwards, revealing the complicated buttons and labs within. The only thing that appeared odd was the lack of scientists.

You couldn't help but look suspiciously into the room as you followed Alphys inside.

"Where's all the people?" You asked, causing Alphys to beam up at you.

"Testing chamber 4A. Currently, we're watching-"

A sudden outcry caused you to flinch. Alphys, being who she was, surprisingly kept her face settled.

"You get used to it. Come on." She chuckled and urged you away from labs and towards the testing rooms. "I'll show you."

It didn't take long for her to take you to the designated chamber, which revealed a tight crowd of scientist around the window.

"Um, excuse me." Alphys muttered through the crowd, bring you along. "Coming through."

Everyone seemed to have moved, just so she could see. You could tell that they all had built up some kind of respect for Alphys. Now that you thought about it, she actually appeared more confident than when  you last saw her. What happened when I was away?

When you both approached the window, which looked into the chamber, you saw Clare and Blooky within the box. Clare looked exhausted. She was sitting down, her legs crossed, and her head was dug into her arms. Even from where you stood, you could see the sweat running down her face, neck, and hair.

Blooky was next to her, looking like he was talking to her, maybe even encouraging her to continue whatever she was doing. You couldn't help but press a hand against the glass, wondering what they could possibly be doing.

"What's happening?" You asked Alphys, not looking away from Clare.

"According to Blooky, there's this concept called Soul Splitting." Her words began to quicken from excitement. "It's a magical spell that only magicians can learn, after all, it requires the mesh of a monster soul and a human soul."

Curiosity began to settle within you, causing you to begin turning towards the dinosaur-like monster, only to catch a glimpse of Clare forcing herself to stand up again. This caused you to whip your head back at her.

"Tell me about it." You muttered, now seeing that her chest was heaving up and down heavily from the stress.

"Well, basically...Allow me to inform you of some background knowledge first." Alphys chuckled. "A magician's soul is consisted of the two concentrations of humanity and magic. Now, the amount of magic within a magician's soul is huge compared to the amount within a monster. In fact, it's enough to match up with amount of power of a human soul."
