The Hobbit Imagines

#1~ Fili

PROMPT: Imagine Fili holding onto you for reassurance and comfort because you're both still alive.

It went without saying that Fili had been scared out of his mind; especially when you had received that exceptionally hard hit from one of the Orcs. The only thing keeping him together after the fight was the thought that you were okay. That's all that mattered, and for you it was the same thing. All that mattered was that he was okay.

Then again, the thought wasn't like the comfort of the person that you love. You cant hold a thought in your arms while hearing it say everything would be okay. No, only a person could do that. So, though he was content with his thoughts while everyone was awake, the second the others were asleep he was at your side.

The fire crackled in front of you both and, for a while, neither of you said anything. Then, there seemed to be a snap in the tension in the air and you heard a sniffle from beside you. You must have heard wrong though; Fili would never cry. However, when you looked over at him you found that you weren't wrong. There he was, somewhat silent tears racing down his cheeks only to be wiped away with a quick swipe of his sleeve. The nephew of the great Dwarf Prince was beside you, and he was crying.

If you hadn't been nearly brought to tears by the thoughts of earlier in the day, you might have teased him for it. A manly Dwarf such as him surely wouldn't cry in front of a woman. However, the thoughts weren't consolation enough now and you were almost crying as well. You gathered him into your arms and patted his back reassuringly to try and get him to calm down his quiet sobs. Whispering sweet and comforting words into his ear until things became quiet again.

''You're okay, right?'' he asked you once the tracks the tears had made on his face had dried up.

You smiled at him warmly, ''I'm okay.''
