♕ Chapter TwentyTwo ♕ - A Second Chance?

Start from the beginning

"Yes, I know. But–"

"But nothing, okay? The bet never happened." His eyes told me to just go with what he was saying. Convincing me to follow his lead.

"It never happened." I repeat after him.

He nods, heaving a sigh. "Good. Now," Taking a seat by his desk, he leans back on the chair and inhales. "all we gotta do is figure out what's going on in Riley Matthew's head."

I snort, "Yeah? Good luck with that." Shaking my head as I laugh.

"Me?" Now it was his time to snort. "I'm not the one going all 'Cheesy Chick' on her."

"Hey!" I raise my voice, pointing my index finger at him. "I'm not going...cheesy chick on her." I stop and say the last part with a lower voice.

He rolls his eyes, "Whatever you say, Romeo."

"So what? You want me to get inside her head?" I ask, eyebrows raised.

He snorts, "She's your Juliet. You just gotta get inside her brain and see if she thinks of you as her Romeo, that's all."

"That's easy for you to say." I grunt, crossing my arms over my chest.

"Hey!" He points his index finger at me, sending glares in my direction. "You're Lucas Friar! Getting a girl has never been a problem for you before. What's so different this time?" He says, sounding confident.

I heave a sigh, "This girl is different."

"In what way, huh?" He crosses his arms over his chest.

"In every way possible, Zay. Trust me; getting inside this girls head is like going through a labyrint. You get confused and lost and when you're inside, you won't find the way to what you're looking for, let along find your way out."

"Well, lucky for you, I already got us a guide." He smirks, nodding his head slowly.

I furrow my brows, "What are you talking about?"

"Nothing," He shakes his head, the smirk plastered on his face. "All you gotta do is keep spending time with her. Sooner or later you'll get your answers, man."

I nod, "Yeah." A smile was creeping up on my face as I thought about spending time with her.

Zay snorted lightly as he focused his gaze on his wall, a grin on his face. "So...you're giving love a second chance, huh?"

Was I? Was I giving love a second chance? I, Lucas Friar, give love a second chance after these past years? After what happened last time, I'm actually doing it again. I'm walking in the same direction. But this time, something is different. She's not her. She's Riley.

My eyes fly up to meet his eyes and I grin. "Yeah, I...I guess I am."

He nods, "I'm happy you are. You deserve it, bro."

"Thanks, Zay." I just hope that this time, everything will be different. No wrong moves.

She's different, Lucas. She won't fall for his lies, no matter how real they may sound.

Riley's POV.

The beauty about last night was not only the view, but his way of speaking to me. His voice, soft and beautiful. His majestic brown eyes and his handsome, crooked smile. His portrait was stuck in my head, not letting me think about anything else.

The crazy thing is; I didn't mind it.

I didn't mind the memory of his face stuck in my head. I didn't mind thinking about how beautiful my name sounded every time he said it. I didn't mind getting goosebumps as I thought of his handsome smile or from the thought of his touch.
