prologue.

the sound of glass crunching under black boots rang through his ears. the sounds of sirens pounded against his skull, his heart beating out of his chest. his raven hair was matted against his forehead, a mixture of blood and sweat causing it. bright lights blinded his senses as he made his way stumbling down the asphalt. paramedics. they were everywhere, wheeling the stretcher that held the love of his life's body. his heart dropped, and he ran over. he pushed past the paramedics, grabbing the lifeless hand.
"i'm sorry...i-i'm so fucking sorry." he cried, choking out sobs. the paramedics pulled him away, trying to clean up his wounds.

"it's my fault. it's all my fault. i wasn't watching where i was going. i crashed the car. i'm sorry!" he cried, his limbs trembling. he knew it was his fault. he knew he shouldn't have drank, he knew he shouldn't have driven home, he knew he should have watched better.

he knew he'd never love again.
