"Okay," He says, clearing his throat and turning his body so that he was now facing me. The moons light brought out the green in his eyes, making it stand out. "Ri...Shaky."
I made a clicking noise with my tongue in utter annoyance and hit him on the arm. He starts laughing and holds hi stomach to contain the laughter.
"I'm serious, Lucas." I say, my voice stern.
He stops laughing, looking at me the same way he did after I said his name justa minute ago. "Fine, I'm sorry. I'm gonna be just as serious as you were, Riley."
My eyes slowly widen, my mouth ajar. He said it.
"You said it!" I cheer, clapping my hands in excitement.
He doesn't say anything. He just sits in front of me, his eyes still glued on me. I stop cheering but I couldn't stop smiling. It felt good, hearing him say my name. Though it wasn't the first time but it still felt good. My name, from his mouth.
"It's not the first time I say your name, or?" He asks, tilting his head to the side, one eye closed as he scrunched up his nose, thinking.
I giggle, "No, but I lik–" I stop myself from continuing and my eyes grow wide.
He furrows his brows, "You like what?"
"I...I didn't...I–what I meant was...." I stutter, trying to make any sense. Why did I even open my mouth in the first place?
"Oh, wow!" He gasps, clasping his hand over his mouth in surprise. "You...."He pointed at me and shook his head slowly. "Wow, Matthews."
I furrow my brows, "Huh? Wha–what are you talking about?"
He laughed, "I feel..I'm honored, really, I never expected this."
I turn my body so I was facing him, too. "What the heck are you talking about? Honored? For what?"
"You like me," He grinned.
I blinked. Once, twice and so on.
"N-no, I don't." I awkwardly turn my body away from him, looking down at my own feet. Embarrassed.
"Hey," His voice was soft as he put his hand over my hand on the ground.
"I don't like you, Friar." I say sternly. "The opposite, actually, I loath you."
He chuckled, "I want to believe you, but you're acting nervous."
I turn my head, watching him. "I'm not nervous, I'm just...taken aback by what you just implied."
He shook his head, "You're a terrible liar, you know that?"
I frowned, "Lucas, I don–"
He nodded, whispering "I know," he took up his hand and caressing my cheek. I felt myself melting in his touch. It felt so right yet I knew it was wrong.
I didn't say anything, scared that it would come out as stutter and I wouldn't be able to form a sentence.
"Riley..." He murmurs, looking at my lips and then his eyes wandered up to meet my eyes.
"Yes?"
"I...I..." He gulps, "I'm sorry."
"For what?" I ask, utterly confused of his sudden excuse.
He shook his head, scooting closer to me he took up his other hand and was now holding my face with both his hands. His thumbs, caressing both my cheeks.
"I'm sorry I kissed you," He started.
"Oh..." I actually felt hurt stinging me in the heart.
He shook his head, "No, I'm not sorry I kissed you."
