Run as fast as you can: A plot twist

Conner came home today. He hasn't hurt me though. Yet. I know he's waiting for the right moment, until dad and the others go to sleep. Then he'll attack me and make me go to the hospital again. Or possibly kill me since I'm so small and fragile. 

Whenever he was downstairs I'd stay upstairs, and when he was upstairs I'd stay downstairs. I was doing anything to keep him away from me. Dad told me that I need to calm down and that Conner wasn't out to get me anymore. That he was better and nicer now. I knew that wasn't true though. Conner isn't the type of person to just automatically change and act nice to people. Back at the orphanage we had mean girls like him there. No matter how many times they were sent away to get nicer, they never changed. Finally the girls were sent away to a different home.

Ashley and I were drawing when I noticed Conner was staring at Ashley weirdly. His fists were clenched and so were his teeth. He notices I'm looking at him and says, "What the hell do you want? Why are you staring at me?!" I give him a disgusted look, but don't reply. He proceeds to stand up and walk over to me. Fear rushes through me. "Leave her alone, Conner. She didn't do anything wrong. Go back to playing your game." Ashley mumbles. Conner shoots her a look and elbows her in the side. She lets out a cry of pain. "Don't hurt her!" I cry out. "Why? Would you like me to hurt you instead?" Conner asks, a look of evil on upon his face. "Thats enough. Leave them alone." Dad suddenly says. Conner looks at dad, then us, then finally leaves. 

Later that night, when it was time to go to bed, I expected Conner to walk in my room at any moment now. But he didn't. I finally relaxed and tried to fall asleep when my bedroom door opens. There stands Conner. He walks over to me and I brace myself for whatever he'll do to me. "What do you think you're doing?!" A voice says. It's Ashley's. "Go away, Ashley! Can't you see I'm busy?" "Yeah, busy trying to hurt Destiny. Leave her alone!" She replies. He turns around and walks up to her and pushes her back, proceeding to punch her. "Stop! Stop!" I cry out, but he doesn't listen. Then Conner pulls something out of his belt. A gun. And aims it right at Ashley. 

"No! No! Don't shoot!" Ashley screams, tears running down her face. He doesn't listen though and pulls the trigger..
