Light My Fire [Nalu] {The Fairy Tail Love Chronicles; Book 3}

Start from the beginning

“Oh yeah? What about you and Gajeel?” Lucy snapped, trying to redirect the conversation as her cheeks began to turn pink.

“W-what about us?” Levy asked. The smirk left her face immediately, and was replaced with a deep scarlet color.

“Are you going to tell Gajeel that you like him?”

“I-I don't like G-Gajeel!” Levy snapped. “And stop trying to change the subject!”

“I don't like Natsu,” Lucy shrugged, trying to act indifferent.

“Lu-chan, I really think you should tell--”

“Shrimp, you coming or not?” Gajeel's deep voice cut them both off as he called for Levy from across the guildhall.

“Sorry, Lu-chan, I have to go. I still think you should tell Natsu how you feel,” she said before running to Gajeel. Lucy smirked at the way she blushed when she looked up at him and smiled before following him out the door.

“How about taking your own advice?” Lucy murmured as she watched them leave. She returned to her sulking, still thinking about Natsu. I don't like Natsu. He isn't even my type! Honestly, Lucy didn't really know what her “type” was, but it couldn't be Natsu. I like guys who are funny, loyal, caring, handsome, brave, and-- She groaned, putting her head on the table. Natsu's totally my type.

“What's wrong with you?” She'd know that voice anywhere. Natsu took a seat next to her, and she could feel his stare.

“Nothing!” Lucy smiled, sitting up straight as she tried to act like she always did. She was suddenly very aware of the bones in his cheeks, and the sharp edge of his jaw.

“You look kinda funny,” he frowned, leaning in dangerously close. “Sure you're alright?”

“F-fine,” she breathed, unable to look away from his eyes. Lucy Heartfillia, stop it right now! This is just like the time Mira told you that Natsu had a crush on you! You've gotten some weird idea into your head, and you need to get it out, right now! Although that's what she told herself, she continued staring at his face as he eyed her worriedly.

“Lucy?”

“What?”

“You have paper stuck to your forehead.”

Lucy turned bright red as she ripped the paper from her face, turning away as he laughed at her. “Shut up, dummy,” she snapped, getting up from the table.

“Where ya goin'?” He asked, following her, Happy walking close behind.

“Home,” Lucy said, haughtily, to cover up her embarrassment.

“What's with the paper?”

“It's a job request,” she answered.

“Awesome! So, what do we have to do?”

“Not we,” she frowned, “I am going.”

“What? Why can't Happy and me come along? We're a team, remember?”

“I can handle this one alone.”

“Lucy...” he complained, pouting. “Come on, please? I'm so bored here!”

“Then go take your own job!” She snapped, going into her apartment and slamming the door in his face. “Bored, he says,” she grumbled, putting on her slippers and stomping her way to the kitchen to make herself some tea. “I can't believe that guy! Of course he wouldn't want to come with me just because he likes going on jobs with me. He just wants me to help him get rid of his boredom. Ugh!” She poured her tea and returned to her bedroom, planning to do some writing before going to bed.

“Why are you so mad?” Natsu was lounging comfortably on her bed, and lifted his head to look at her as she entered the room.

“Aye,” Happy agreed. “You're really cranky.”

“Shut it, cat,” she frowned. “What are you two doing in here?”

“We're always here,” Natsu frowned, sitting up.

“Well, you should leave.”

“Lucy--”

“Look, I'm not really in the mood for company right now. I want to drink my tea, then go to bed. Okay?”

“Why can't we go with you on your job?”

“If you're bored, there are plenty of jobs on the request board, so go pick one of those.”

“It won't be any fun if we aren't together,” he complained, sitting next to her on the floor and crossing his arms as he pouted. Lucy looked up at him and blushed. She knew he didn't mean anything by what he had said, but she couldn't help but feel a little bit happy.

“Whatever,” she sighed, sipping her tea to cover the blush on her face.

“Yay!” He and Happy cheered.

“I'm leaving tomorrow morning, so don't you two oversleep,” Lucy warned.

“Aye!” Happy saluted, flying out the door.

“We'll be here bright and early!” Natsu grinned.

“Last week you made us miss our train by sleeping too late, so remember to wake up,” Lucy sighed. She couldn't help but smile back as he looked at her.

“We'll be here,” he said, punching her playfully on the arm.

Her heart continued to race even after he had gone. If a small smile and a the feel of his skin on hers could have such an effect on her, she knew she was in trouble. I definitely like Natsu.

~Natsu~

“What are you smiling about?” Happy asked as they walked home.

“Nothing,” Natsu shrugged, still grinning. He knew he could convince Lucy to take them with her. It was always more fun when they all went on jobs as a team, but he had lied about wanting to go out of boredom. Honestly, he just liked spending time with Lucy. We're teammates, so I should like spending time with her.

“I think you llllllike her,” Happy giggled, flying around him.

“Lucy? Of course I like her,” Natsu shrugged. “We're teammates.”

“You're kind of slow,” Happy teased.

“How so?” Natsu snapped.

“Never mind,” Happy sighed, flying ahead of him.

“Happy--”

“Last one home has to cook!” Happy shouted, zooming forward.

Natsu took off after him, shrugging off what he had said. “I'll definitely beat you!”

It wasn't very long, but I hope you liked the first chapter! :3
