~~~Caleb's P.O.V~~~
Morning
"Caleb you're late... again." Mrs. Kay said as I rushed into her classroom, she was my music teacher. "What is it this time?"
"Ok first of all I'm only 10 minutes late and I slept in on accident because the night before I had to present at the award show and then I had to show at the after party and yeah.. I slept late." I said honestly. "I am sorry."
"Alright." She sighed. "We're doing a final project before winter break, you're partner is..." Mrs. Kay said as she looked around the class to see who was left. "Oh yeah you're partner is Jamie." She said. "She was the only one without a partner, so now you're her partner." Jamie? There's a Jamie in our class? I made a confused look and searched the classroom for this Jamie. My eyes landed on a girl with long dark brown hair, she was alone in the back and she was looking down writing some notes I guess. I heard some chuckling from my other classmates. I just ignored it and made my way towards Jamie.
"I feel bad for you dude." Derek said as I sat down next to Jamie. I just shrugged, she can't be that bad for a partner. Mother always said not to judge anyone if you don't know them.. So I guess I can't judge Jaime.
"So you're Jamie? Hello I'm Caleb." I greeted with a smile, my smile slowly faded when she didn't reply. I'm starting to feel a bad vibe, did she not like me?
"Ok class.. Since it's almost Christmas you're assignment is to pick Christmas song, research it's history, and perform it someway to the class. Today is the only day you can work on this in class so after school you're going to have to visit each other's houses and work on it there. This assignment is to be completed by Thursday." Mrs. Kay announced. "You may use the rest of this class time to start working, no talking with anyone other than you're partner."
"This is great.. My father has some Christmas songs.. We can pick one of his and just ask him questions on why he wrote it." I said excitingly to Jamie, she just seemed to ignore me and continued to write notes. "You know... We're never going to get anything done if you don't communicate with me." I sighed.
"I'll just do everything and put your name on it." She said. Finally, she spoke.
"Nope.. I have to help or else I will feel guilty."
"It will be much simpler if I did all the work."
"Mrs. Kay Jamie won't let me help! She said she's going to do all the work!" I said out loud.
"Jamie, let Caleb help or you both will receive a zero." Mrs. Kay scolded to her. I looked at her and smirked.
"Ha." I smiled. She just rolled her eyes and took out a new sheet of paper.
"You don't really like me, do you?" I said while leaning my arm on the table and resting my head on it.
"Congratulations you figured out the obvious." She said while writing 'Christmas Song:' in perfectly written letters.
"Why not? I haven't done anything to you.. This is the first time I've talked with you, are you new here?"
"Wow really? I've been your classmate since 1st grade." She said while roller her eyes.
"Nu uh.. You're lying... I would of talked with you and remember you." I defended.
"I'm not lying.. You're just too cool and popular to pay attention to anyone that's unpopular." She defended. "You're really annoying."
"You don't know me.. My mother said if you don't know someone personally then you have no right to judge them."
"Well guess what.. I never want to know you personally."
"I want to know you personally and I want to find out why don't you like me."
"Can we just get started on the project." She sighed. I nodded and I got her to agree to my fathers song: Christmas Eve. She wanted to do Jingle bells, but I said no because everyone else is going to pick it.
5 Minutes Later
"Hey do you have anything to eat?" I asked.
"What? Why?"
"Because I was in a hurry this morning and I skipped breakfast... So I'm hungry."
"Guess what."
"What?"
"Sucks to be you." Jamie shrugged.
"You need to work on your manners." I sighed. She shrugged again and we continued to work on the project.
45 Minutes Later
The bell rung which meant class was over. "Hey so.. You should give me your address so I can come over and we can work on the project there." I said as I packed my things.
"Uh.. My house? You want to come over to my house to work on the project?" She said nervously.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"Um no we can't.. You can't come over." She quickly said while putting on her backpack.
"Why not?" I asked.
"Because... Because my mom is doing some house renovations and it will be very distracting." She said. I knew she was lying, but I just played along.
"Oh ok then.. Give me your phone number and I'll text you my address so you can come over today."
"I uh.. I don't have a phone." She said while looking away.
"Seriously?" I chuckled while writing my address down on a pice of paper and handing it to her. "Right after school." I said and walked to my second class which was History. Oh gosh.. I have to pay more attention to her because she is in my History class too. Wonder if she's in any other of my classes.
Lunch
"What are you doing here?" Jamie asked annoyed as I sat across from her at a lunch table she was sitting at all alone.
"I want to eat lunch with my new buddy." I smiled.
"We're not friends."
"Hey Caleb.. Why are we here? Our table is over there." Connor said as he sat down next to me. "Hey are you new?" Connor asked Jamie.
"Nope, supposedly she's been here since the 1st grade." I answered for her.
"Really? I haven't noticed you around."
"Yeah yeah it's true... Now will you please leave me alone? We're just partners... Not friends."
"Why don't you like me.. I just want to be your friend since it looks like you don't have any."
"I have friends." She defended.
"Then where are they?" Connor asked. She sighed and walked away. What's her deal? Did I do something wrong in the past that made her not like me? I tried to take her off my mind, but I just couldn't. I chatted with Connor throughout lunch. It was only us since Shayla was sick, some girls came over to flirt, but I just rolled my eyes and shrugged it off. After lunch I went to the rest of my classes which Jamie ended up being in 2 of them.. I really have to pay attention to people in my classes.
End Of The Day
Jamie was in my last class of the day so when the bell rang I waited for her. "Do you drive?" I asked as I waited for her beside her locker and put on my coat since it was winter and it does snow here in Atlanta.
"No I don't drive, I walk."
"You walk to school everyday?" I asked.
"Yes, problem?"
"No.. It's just that don't you get tired or cold?"
"I'm used to it." She shrugged while putting on a sweater.
"Uh.. You do have something to go over that, right?" I asked. She shook her head. "You can't walk home like that.. It's too cold outside. I'm going to give you a ride." I said.
"No you don't have to do that." She said.
"Sweetie I'm not giving you a choice." I said and lead her to my all black range rover with tinted windows. I opened the passenger side for her and practically made her get in. "Do you need to tell your parents that you're coming over?" I asked as I turned on the car. "Do you need to go home first?"
"No no... It's fine, they won't get worried. Lets just go to your house and get this project over with." She said and put on her seat belt.
"Ok then." I shrugged and turned on the heater. "See, isn't this cozy car more better then walking out in the cold." I said as I started driving towards my house. She didn't answer and just continued to stare out the window. I noticed as she started to get uneasy when we got farther and farther away from the normal neighborhood and into the gated community area. Seriously.. What is it with this girl? I need to find out.
