(Previously: Vecto blows up the building that Axe is in, but the assassin jumps out in time, using a foam-creating projectile to make a landing. Part of the roof crushes Axe, and Chais asks who the assassin is.)

Axe coughed from the dust and responded in a hoarse voice. "They call me Axe."

Chais leaned over and yanked off the assassin's mask, revealing the attempted killer's identity.

"But I call myself Accura," the female continued, grunting in pain from the slab of roof on her legs. It was pointless to hide her identity anymore. Vecto had probably already matched her face with public records, and looked up her file, too.

"You mean you're a chick?" Chais stumbled back, shocked at her beauty. She had brown, silky skin with her hair straightened and tied in the back. She appeared to be from African and Japanese decent, and Chais was curious why she had a mechanical eyeball.

"Don't you realize?" She grunted, pointing at Vecto. "That machine is wanted. He killed the entire SS6 Formation. And it's my job to take him out!"

Chais fell silent, his mouth open, shocked at what she had said. "You mean he killed the SS6?" Chais asked, looking back at the approaching Vecto, then at Accura. "What for?"

"How should I know? Why don't you ask him yourself?" Accura spat, trying to lift the slab on top of her. "Seeing you're his new accomplice, you'll be get'n jail time."

Chais once again looked at Vecto. The robot's tall figure stepped beside them, looming over them both.

"Is this true?" Chais asked, raising his sword to point at Vecto instead.

"Yes, she is correct," Vecto responded in a monotone.

"And if I was accepted into the SS6, you would've killed me, too?"

"They were working for Sable, who had revived Morphaal," Vecto explained. "They were just as corrupt."

"And what about you? Doesn't killing them make you just as guilty? They probably didn't even know what Sable was up to!"

"I did what was necessary," Vecto explained. "You do not understand."

Chais looked away and glanced down at Accura, who was suffering from the slab of metal crushing her. "You're right. I don't," he said. "I guess I'm better off than you after all."

"What do you mean?" Vecto was confused.

"Just go. Find your own way to Leroy's!" Chais said, grabbing the edge of the metal on Accura to try and lift it off her.

"You do not understand," Vecto repeated.

"I said leave me alone!" Chais yelled, straining to help Accura.

Vecto paused, turning his head to look at Chais' efforts to help the enemy. She was just as corrupt, too, because the Acaterran government had likely hired her. He hovered his hand under the metal and yanked up on it, flipping the metal off her. The metal slammed to the surface, stirring more dust and purple foam threads in the air.

"Very well then," Vecto responded. He turned and walked off, stepping away from the destruction behind him, pacing through the purple threads as they showered around him and snuffed out scattered flames.

(Will Vecto find his way to Leroy's place now that Chais doesn't want to be around him? Find out more in the next installment of Vecto: Vengeance!)
