Suicidal Tendencies ~ Possessed To Skate

So all the way around on the other side of the hill from the Madhouse is where all the nice rich people live. I can't help but think that this was by design on some level. When the first Crazy settlers came to this place from the Insansitani homeland to put down there insane roots in the unsuspecting soil. The first thing the Crazies did was make a blood sacrifice to their insane gods to keep their ancient enemies at bay. So eventually when the forces of the moral majority reached the sunny shores of old California and started looking around for a nice spot in the shade. They immediately knew to stay away from Los Sanitarium.

The first thing I notice about the "nice neighborhood" is how green it is compared to our side of the hill. Apparently, these people are rich enough to afford to water their massive lawns during the traditional California summer drought season. I even spot a couple of houses here and there with ornate foreign fountains in the front yard.

We drive through some seriously expensive looking real-estate, with some sort of fake cultivated forest look going on. All the houses on this side of the hill are those mini-mansions, that don't have fences but big hedges. I suppose that's probably because the closest neighbor is way too far away to hear anything anyway? Some of the hedges have even been cut into those big topiary type bushes that rich people grow into giraffes and elephants and shit.

So it turns out the Hoppers have a really huge house up in the hills, with a big ass pool in their big ass backyard. A pool that has been drained for resurfacing, before the summer swim season starts. So for whatever reason, his clearly uncaring parents are letting Mark and fifty of his closest fake friends skate the pool, before the construction starts in a couple of days. Man-o-man, talk about your irresponsible adulting.

When we finally get to the Hopper's house party, I trail behind Billy walking into the semi-crowded backyard of loud blaring music. Billy doesn't really do any of the socially necessary niceties like smiling. But I do notice him nod back every now and then, to those few frendlies that he doesn't seem hate too much.

Old me would have at least tried to dress to fit in. Of course, failing miserably when I realized I don't really have the wardrobe to pull off cool Skater Chick. But new Crazy me sorta doesn't really give a crap what these idiots think about me. So thankfully I opted to go with comfort over style.

A loose peasant shirt over a tight tank top, and my cut off jean shorts. They're not the hot-assed sexy Daisy Duke kind of cutoffs. But the lose fit two sizes two big kind, that I call my "Schlubbies". To me, schlubby shorts exist in their very own special universe of almost cool. They are a comfortably loose fit, and they go with everything and yet nothing. And just like me, they don't add anything cool to the ensemble, but I don't they don't take anything away either.

As we move thru the cluster knots of hazey smiling people, I recognize the majority of the kids hanging around as the "Burn Out" crowd. The kind of kids that I never socialized with at school, and pretty much avoided getting to know on any level. These were all the kids that even in junior high were showing up to school half stoned and stupid.

Which of course is evidenced by the fog from all the stoners hanging out by the back wall. All of them trying to look too cool, passing around what I can only assume is a marijuana joint? I am getting the feeling that this party is a lot less of a "Graduation Gift". Then it is a meet-n-greet for potential clients of the Hopper Brother's burgeoning weed business.
