"Ain't sure I should've brung you," says Caleb, taking a drag on his cigarette. "I can tell you ain't sure."

He's sittin' by the brick archway tunnel entrance. Water spills down from up within the trees and ferns. It comes crashin' loudly off the stones and rocks, slidin' somewhere out of sight.

I don't answer him. I peer into the black. I know it ain't far, although they say the distance is greater inside. Still. I ain't got much choice anymore.

I kick against track, expecting it to ring out but there's only a dull thud. The metal's all rusted up, grown in between with weeds and cigarette butts. It's hot and the cicadas are shoutin'. My hands are buzzin'.

Caleb nods at me as I walk past him. "Don't turn around!" he shouts. "What comes back is the bad part!"

I can feel the tunnel pullin' me in. It wraps around, ice cold, makin' me shiver. Whispers slip along my skin. I think to turn back.

We are every piece of you.

There's a shinin' at the other end. It's faint and far away but it's gettin' closer with each step.
