What I Should Have Asked You

I should have asked you
'what keeps you up at night'
months ago.
Because maybe then I would've been a
little less attached, and
I'd now be a
little less broken, and
I would've been able to sleep a
little better at night
because I would have known
not to worry about you
since you would've told me that
you worried about this girl.
This girl with (similar) glimmering hair and
(Similar) almond eyes.
And like I counted the stars in the sky,
You stayed up at night counting the reflecting
glitter speckles on her cheeks.

The thought of her
keeps me up
thinking about
her keeping
you up.
