"Yes!" Karla said, standing up immediately, and we both went to the kitchen.
"Okay, let's make bread, soup, salad, and what else?" I asked.
"How about cupcakes?" Karla suggested.
"Definitely. The bread will take the longest. We should eat at around four today, since it's one-thirty now. Regular bread?" I asked.
"That works," Karla agreed. We got out the ingedients, and quickly mixed them, before popping the bread into the oven. I set the timer for three hours, and then we got the soup ingredients ready. We chose to do a broccoli and cheese, and then we got all the fresh ingredients ready.
We put everything in the pot, and stirred it occasionally.
At three, we started mixing the cupcake batter. We made it from scratch, and we did it like Cupcake Wars. We did plain vanilla cupcakes, and filled them with a creamy frosting, before topping them with chocolate frosting, edible glitter, and different stuff like flowers, books, and patterns.
It was really fun. By the time our salad was mixed, we served everything, and then we ate with my parents.
They loved every bite of it, and after they were finished, we quickly cleaned up, and Karla and I went up to my room. We just talked for awhile, and we came across the topic of our boyfriends.
"So, when's your next date?" Karla asked me.
"Dinner on Tuesday at six, after practice," I replied. "We're going to Applebee's."
"Sounds fun," Karla said. "We're going out on Tuesday after practice, too; but to Steak and Shake."
"That's cool." I said.
We talked for awhile more, and then Karla went to the guest room, and I managed to fall asleep quickly today.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This morning, I woke up a little earlier than usual, so I got to take a bit of a longer shower. As I stepped out of the shower, I heard Karla's shower running, too. I dried my hair, and fixed my bangs in a French braid, and curled the rest of my hair.
Then I checked the weather and saw it was going to be getting a little bit cooler today. So I grabbed a pair of loose black sweat pants from Pink, a black tank top, and an aqua top. Then I threw on a pair of Puma's and ran downstairs.
I ate a piece of toast, and then organized my backpack. Karla came down soon after me, dressed in dark blue skinny jeans, a white tank top, and a loose black shirt over it. She gave me a smile and grabbed a granola bar, quickly eating it and a piece of toast.
"Want to walk to school today? We've got like twenty minutes," I said.
"Yeah, sure." Karla replied, grabbing her backpack.
"Mom, we're walking to school today!" I called to her.
"Alright!" she called back, and I grabbed my phone before Karla and I walked out the front door of my house. We walked and talked all the way to school, and we got there five minutes earlier than we normally would, so we could chat with a couple of other people.
We went to our lockers, and then walked to our homeroom.
The entire school day passed in a huge blur, and I was shocked to find that it was done. I was relieved to find that it was time for dance and cheer. I could get some excercise in!
We all walked into the gym to find Kayla there, with costumes scattered around the gym floor.
"Go change, and then we'll pass these out," she ordered us, and we all ran for the locker room, and I opened up my gym bag and threw on tights, spandex, and a sports bra, along with my adage shoes.
When everyone was sitting in a circle around Kayla, she cleared her throat and began talking. "Alright, these costumes are for our new jazz routine 'Whatcha Waiting For' by Ashley Tisdale. We're going to start the routine today, I just wanted to hand out the costumes first. This is it."
She held up a short, spaghetti strapped dress for us to see. It was tight at the torso, with a wide band at our hips. Then there was a tiny patch of fabric gone, right above our ribs. They were all a deep turqoiuse, and they looked really cool.
(This is the link for the costume, it's the blue one:
She handed them out, and then told us to try them on. We all grabbed ours and ran for the dressing room, and quickly put them on.
"Mine's too big, Kayla!" I called, and I heard a couple others say they were either small or big.
Kayla came in and laughed. "Alright, let me see. Okay, Alexa and Christy switch. Uh, Karla and Marie switch. Anyone else? No? Good. Try them on, and then come out in them."
Christy and I quickly switched costumes, and then we all walked out. Kayla observed us, and then made us go and change back into our dance clothes.
After we were done, we went and sat around her. "Alright, guys, our first competition is in a month. It's January. We are taking, for this competition, 'I Run For Life', 'Party Rock', and 'Whatcha Waiting For'. Then a few people are taking a solo or duet. Karla, you're taking your jazz. Alexa, you're taking your contemporary. Maddie, you're taking your tap. And Gina, you're taking your hip hop. Anna and Marie, you are taking your hip hop duet. Christy and Jen, you're taking your tap duet. Kelly, Lily, and Chloe, you are taking your lyrical trio, and Briannah, Hilary, and Melissa, you are taking your jazz trio. And Karla and Alexa, you are both learning a jazz and a lyrical duet. Now, let's start the new number."
We all stood up and stretched for a couple of minutes, and then we waited for us to be placed in our positions. There are fourteen of us, so she has to think a little bit about placing us.
She put us in two groups of seven, facing away from each other. Then one group turns over her shoulder, then my group does. Then, my group does a leap towards the other group, and then brings our leg up slowly to in front of us, and hold it up by our shouders. Then we bring it down slowly and do a triple pirouette, and then point to the other group, who is posed with attitude by then.
While we do our combination, they are doing a different one. After they turn, they do a double coupe turn, and end with a pop with their feet apart. Then they both both hands out, one at a time, and shoulder level, and strut backwards for two counts. Then they pop their hips and look away from us.
Then the two groups file into two lines, and we do attitude leaps crossing each other, and then me and Karla do aerials crossing two other girls in front. Then everyone makes a heart with their hands and breaks them apart twice.
We ran that, and then learned about forty more seconds. Then it was cheerleading time. I took off my dance shoes and put on my Puma's.
Then I ran back out to the gym where all the mats were being set up. We mainly worked on our aerials and other tricks, and then Linda called us over to her so we could talk.
"Girls," she said, looking at each and every fifteen of us. "Pack your bags. We're going to nationals!"
