Hide and seek

Chloe's POV

It was terrifying, I just ran to the other end of the room so I wasn't near Ryan had to hide under some of the bodies, they were piled up all over the place so it wouldn't look strange

I just hoped that they wouldn't think too deeply into it because I wasn't near Ryan

I heard the door open and held my breath

"There's no one here, they're all dead" the guy who came in yellow to the other after a small search of the room, he never came as far as me

I heard the door close but I wasn't going anywhere until I knew they were gone

I could hear them talking outside and what I heard terrified me

"HOW COULD YOU LOSE HER!" The one in charge yelled "SHE WAS THE ONE THEY WANTED! HOW COULD YOU BE SO STUPID, THEY NEED THAT KID OF HERS AND SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH THEY CANT GET THE KID WITHOUT HER!" He yelled them , I felt my breath hitch

"Maybe she wasn't the one" another replied to him

Then I heard a gunshot

"Anyone else want to question me?!" He shouted aggressively, I never heard them reply

"The prophecy of our world says a blonde girl with bright green eyes will carry the child to save our people from extinction, maybe she's not the one, let's just pray that she's not for our sakes shall we? Because if she is then we're all dead" he told them coldly and then I heard the footsteps leave

They want my baby? Why? What can it do to 'save' them? It's not even born yet, that was all I could think about, why would my unborn child be the saviour of their species?

Once I was sure they were gone I found my way out from under the bodies that were shielding me and over to Ryan, he had a nasty cut on his arm but other than that he seemed pretty much fine

So why hadn't he woken up? Why was he still unconscious? What he hurt somewhere else that I couldn't see?

Insulin, he should've had a shot by now, that was why he's out of it I realised

I ran to our cabin and began rummaging through his things until I found when I needed

I took it back to him and gave him the injection, then bandaged up his arm then I just sat there with tears streaming down my face, holding him tightly with no intention of ever letting go

Eventually he began to wake up

"Chlo?" He mumbled as his eyes opened a little

"I'm here" I told him gently

"What happened?" He asked me in a raspy voice

"They weren't who they said they were, the others had taken them over, I heard all the gunshots and lied to get off the bus, I ran back here and found you like this" I explained rather hurriedly

"Are you okay?" He asked me and I chuckled

"Am I okay? You're the one who keeps nearly dying on me" I reminded him and he chuckled softly too

"Yeah I guess I am" he acknowledged

"Ry...I...I know what they want" I told him, trying not to sound as afraid as I actually was

"What?" He asked me

In response I just took him hand and placed it on my small bump, but in case it wasn't clear I decided to clarify anyway

"They want our baby"
