Chloe's POV
"W...what?" He stuttered in shock
"I'm pregnant" I repeated again
"I don't know what to say" he said while shaking his head
"Y...you don't want the baby?" I asked nervously and slightly hurt
"Of course I do, but baby, look at what's happening to the world right now, o can't promise to keep you safe, I will do everything in my power, I will die for you if I have to but I can't promise it will be enough....we can't lose that baby" and that really hit home with me
He was right, there may have been nothing we could do to save ourselves, we didn't know what they wanted, we didn't know anything about them and I had a child inside me, another human being
"We have to go, now, in land, as far away as we can" he told me
"Why inland?" I asked in confusion
"They can do this, who knows what else they can do" he reminded me and I agreed soon after
We packed our bags in silence, every now and then I could feel his eyes on me, I'd imagine on my stomach, I knew how much he'd wanted to be a father, if I lost that baby it could end up changing everything between us, but I could have just as easily lost him
Then I saw him get something and had to do a double take, he unlocked this box from in his nightstand that I'd seen before but never seen the contents of until then and it left me shocked
"You have a gun?!" I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched him
"Chloe, I was raised by my parents, of course I have a gun" he responded gently
Then he pulled out something else and walked towards me with it
"No Ry I can't" I told him as he held out another gun gesturing for me to take it, it was smaller but was still a gun
"Chloe, you are going to take this and if you need to defend yourself you will use it" he told me forcefully and for a few seconds I looked at him like he was crazy before finally deciding to just take it
He showed me how to use it and then that was it, we were off, we went out to his truck which he kept in the garage, I was sure it wouldn't work, nothing else had but he somehow got it started, I was afraid to get in, I saw what happened to all those other cars, what if that happened to us? But I knew I wouldn't be able to walk the whole way
I decided to try and turn on the radio and somehow it worked, that was when we heard the broadcast
"It's official, they have been named, we believe they are from a distant planet but for now we are referring to them as 'the others' " the broadcaster told us
They then identified some camps within the country so Ryan picked the one most inland of here and what he deemed to be the safest and we went for it, saying goodbye to everything we held dear

So wave 1 is over and they're heading for a camp in the hopes of finding safety, but what will happen when the 2nd wave strikes? Xoxo
