Ezra's pov
I fell asleep in Kanan's arms safe and sound, I think he's telling the truth. When I awoke we were still in the same position. I guess Kanan was still awake though, he started to hum a melody and run his fingers through my hair has my head rested on his shoulder. What is he humming? I recognized it has "Baby of mine", an old lullaby almost everyone knew.
It was relaxing and sweet... I didn't mind the attention. I soon fell asleep again.
Kanan's pov
I held Ezra close to my heart and let his head rest on my shoulder while I hummed a lullaby I had heard parents sing to their children... Their children... Ezra wasn't technically mine, maybe by heart but not in reality. I could change that though, with one call. I gently laid Ezra on his couch and grabbed my com.
Ezra's pov
I shot straight up when I heard a knock on the door and looked around for Kanan. I calmed down when I found him sitting by the kitchen counter. "How long was I asleep for?" "4 hours." I sighed "That long?" he motioned for me to keep quiet and went to check the door. He apparently knew who it was and talked to whoever was there. Kanan was then handed files and conversation proceeded. After about 25 minutes of talking Kanan and the stranger finished up talking. Kanan closed the door and placed the files on the counter. "Who was that?" "Someone from Senator Bail Organas adoption services." I was shocked at what he said. Adoption services? He noticed my surprised reaction and motioned for me to come over. I did so but yelped slightly when he pulled me into my lap and pulled my chin up to look him in the eyes. "I wanted to ask you something. I was wondering if you would let me adopt you. You would have a family. Do you want this?" I at first didn't know what to say. I mean this was really sudden, right? I thought about it for a second. That dreadful morning, what he said to me. But then I remembered what happened 6 weeks ago and what he had said to me then. What happened that morning wasn't the real Kanan I know, that day that Kanan showed me what love is. That... That was the real Kanan. I cried and wrapped my arms around Kanan's neck. "Yes... That sounds great." He brought his arms around me and cried with me. We then signed the papers and got them ready to send back. It would be official in 4 days.
Kanan's pov
I was excited that Ezra had said yes. We finished signing the papers and sealed them in an envelope. I couldn't help but look at Ezra, he was smiling and looking at me too. Yeah he's going to be my official son soon. Soon...
