Day Two

You came again today.

Same bright smile,

But you were alone.

A school bag over your shoulder.

Probably a student like me.

I really hope so.

You still had a smile as you walked towards me,

The cashier.

You always smile.

It's magical.

I took your order,

I truly hope you didn't notice my stutter.

Your voice caught me off guard.

I watched as you walked away.

You sat in the far, quiet corner.

My eyes kept wandering to you.

You're captivating.

I watch as you take out a book.

It's a slow day.

I take my time making your order.

Careful to make it perfect.

Just like you.

I call out your order.

You don't move.

I call out your order again.

Still no movement.

You're too into your book.

I can't help but stare at your concentrated expression.

God you're perfect.

I decide to take a chance.

I take your order and go to your table.

I gently set it down in front of you with two hands.

I'm shaking so much.

You look at me,  expression blank.

I freeze.

Shit.

You look strange with no smile.

It's frightening.

Why?

You suddenly smile and set your book down,  apologizing.

I can't help but blush.

You're too nice, it scares me.

I bow and quickly turn away, head down.

I go back behind the counter.

I look back at you to see you're back to reading.

I watch.

Observe.

How your slender fingers gently turn each page.

The pinkness of your soft lips.

Your soft, gentle brown eyes.

How your soft hair,  tossled messily,  yet elegantly over your forehead.

An Angel.

A few hours pass.

You start packing.

By now I've memorized everything physical about you.

It's not enough.

I look down as you pass by.

I look up as you exit.

You turn as the door closes.

You catch me looking.

I look away just as the door shuts.

But I don't miss the smile you give me.
