Asking Billy

I found Billy in the dining hall and went over to him casually.

"Hey Billy," I say sitting down beside him, "Uh, hi." Billy said lifting his head up from staring at what looked like oatmeal or apple sauce, I couldn't tell. Nor did I want to know. I sat in the chair in front of him and sort of watch him eat.

"Whatever is on your mind, say it and get it over with." Billy says not looking up from his bowl of mush.

"What's in the basement?" Looking him in the eye. Billy's face paler than his typical almost translucent complexion.

"Taryn, you won't be safe if I tell you. You're the only innocent one here. I intend to keep it that way. So don't ever ask me about the basement again." I respected the serious tone he spoke with.

"Okay, it is forgotten." We silently sit just watching the world, this was Billy's therapy, the peaceful silence I can over.
