We walked to the tree, I couldn't see Quinn,
"Quinn!" I shouted.
It was silent for a few moments, "I'm not leaving!" A sad, stranded voice shouted from the tree,
"Just come down!" I shouted back. Dan was walking around the tree reading all the things carved into the trunk, ("Why do I do this?" "I'm not meant to be here" "I should stop hurting people" )
"Phil, leave me alone! You might be my older brother but i'm an adult!" She shouted, looking down at us,

"I'm meant to protect you and keep you safe, no matter what!" I yelled,
"Well, you have done a good job, now just go!"
"Quinn! If Phil won't then I will!" Dan shouted,
"What?" Me and Quinn said at the same time.
"Climb the tree!" Dan said, in a 'pointing the obvious' way. Dan began to climb the tree, for a 6ft3 man he was pretty good at climbing a tree. I followed him shortly.

We sat next to Quinn in the tree. She had obviously been crying, even if she said she hadn't, we could tell. Dan and I put our arms round her,
"Smile?" Dan whispered to her.
"No!" She huffed, crossing her arms,
"Why?" I asked her.
"Nothing to smile about. Why would I paint a mask? I hate everything about thing and myself so just leave me alone. Nothing you too could say could help me!" Quinn voice was tangled in anger, fear and sadness. 
"You used to love everything about yourself?" I said with a small smile on my lips..
"Used to" She sighed,
"Tell us what you hate" Dan said,
"Everything" She huffed, giving us a blank look,
"Yes we get that, but what and why?!" Dan laughed,
"I'm stupid, my personality sucks, my legs are gross, I hate how I stand, my ears are massive, my laugh is bad, i'm just repulsive" Quinn looked down and twiddled her thumbs.
I looked over to Dan and shook my head no. He relied with a shocked expression,
"You two are quiet because you know it's true!" Quinn's voice left a trail for sadness,
"Quinn, you're none of them things!" Dan exclaimed, hugging her tighter,
"Yeah, I love your laugh, you're definitely not stupid, you ears aren't massive" Finishing of what Dan said,
"Exactly, you're the opposite of repulsive!" Dan hugged her tighter and so did I,
"You two are only saying that because you're my brother and friend!" She huffed again,
"Quinn, I wouldn't say it unless it's true" I said with honestly in the air,

We sat in silence for a while, every so often Quinn would murmur something to herself, 
"Why do I do this to myself?" She asked us barely audible,
"Do what?" Dan asked,
"Cheat on people?" Quinn answered,
"You never cheated on her!" I said, 
"I did though, I told her I loved her and then went and kissed another person! I'm such a bad person"
"Come on, mistakes happen. Maybe it was for the best?" Dan reasoned,
"Yeah! It's better to find it out now then later, when you two could have been very serious!" I said agreeing with Dan,
"What do you mean?" She asked looking up,
"I mean, you're only young. 23! That's barely nothing! Plus she was your first official girlfriend, so what if it never worked. Someone out there is waiting for you, and you never know who" I smiled, Quinn gave me a quick hug,
"Thanks Phil but I still think i'm a terrible person for doing it." She sadly replied,
"But it wasn't your fault Quinn. Love is a thing that nobody can control, you may feel it one day and it be gone the next! It's the singly most difficult thing to ever have!" Dan reasoned with Quinn,
"You think?"
"I know!" Dan turned a little to look at her "Look, at least you have learned something new about yourself and hey, think of this as a learning curve and like Phil said: you are one step closer to find the perfect one!" Quinn put her arms around me and Dan and bring us into a hug, we stay like that for a while...

Quinn let off a sad aroma. I knew that she really wanted to just give up, but I wouldn't let her! The only thing that I was fearing was going back home... And I thing Dan was too!

After hours of begging and persuading we finally got her down from the tree and got her home.
