He paused for a moment to think before deciding that Jenny will sit beside Aelita. The reason behind that action isn't just because of the one factor that Aelita's sitting alone, the other factor is that he didn't want to let loose a war amongst the boys on who got to seat with the new girl.
Jenny, after hearing her new and first tablemate she shyly walked towards the empty seat next to Aelita.
"I'll be leaving now. I hope everyone can be welcoming to Jenny." Mr Delmas bid goodbye and left.
Sensing that Jenny was feeling a little bit tensed, Aelita decided that she should approach her first.
"Hi! I'm Aelita, nice to meet you Jenny." Aileta greeted cheerfully and extended her hand out to shake her hand.
Jenny smiled at the hospitality and reached out her hand to shake Aelita's but, as soon as their hands touched, an electric wave shot through their bodies.
For a short moment, they both stared into each other's eyes. They were a little taken back by whatever that "jolting experience" was, but they brushed it away as some sort of weird encounter.
A few minutes into the lesson Jeremy started tapping Aelita's back, "Aelita... Aelita..." He whispered.
Aelita leaned her head back and Jeremy passed her a note.
"What's that? Another note?" Aelita asked.
"No! This is the note that we had just now... Destroy it." He whisper-shouted.
"But..."
"Just throw it away or something. We don't want the teacher to read it to the whole class right?"
"Okay, okay."
Grabbing the crumpled note in her hand, Aelita started to slowly and quietly tear the paper into pieces.
Despite being as soft as she could, the sound of papers ripping caught Jenny's attention.
"What are you doing?" Jenny asked looking at the torn up note.
"Erm... It's kind of a long story. Whatever it was, we have to destroy the evidence before the teacher asks for it again."
"Oh... It's an evidence..?"
"Erm.. Well, er.."
"You don't have to explain to me. It's okay. You sound stressed out." Jenny chuckled softly.
"Heh, thanks." Aelita smiled. "Oh yeah! I have to thank you!"
Jenny's eyebrow raised, confused at the sudden gratitude, "Thank me? For what?"
The teacher turned away from the board and glared at the two girls in front of him with a face that reads, 'If you girls continue to talk, you'll get it from me'.
Aelita looked down onto her notebook and as soon as the teacher turned back to the board, whispered, "Jenny, I'll explain it to you later. The teacher knows we're talking and I don't think we'd want to risk getting into detention."
*Class bell rings*
"WOOHOO!" Odd cheered and fist pumped the air.
"Okay class, before you leave please remember to do your assignment. It's a simple one so please don't let me catch anyone not completing it. Especially you, Odd." The teacher said sternly before exiting the class.
"We had homework?" Odd scratched his head like a confused puppy.
"Yeah. You forgot didn't you? Research about William Shakespeare? Man Odd, what were you doing for the past few weeks when the teacher explained to us about the homework?" Ulrich laughed at Odd's ignorant attitude towards homework.
