The little girl screamed her heart out as she was pulled away, their little hands that had held together for so long were now broken apart. Mutters were exchanged between the two parents as they said their goodbyes. Streams of tears fell down from the two little children cheeks.

As departure neared, the little girl was placed into the backseat with difficulty. During the commotion her father clicked on the child-lock as she continued to cry out for her dear friend. Amidst in the crying she hit the window button, letting the cool air in as it rolled down.

Caught by the wind, her pigtails loosened as pieces of brown hair flew everywhere. She tried to leave the car but the seat belt was still intact and it wouldn't extend. The frustration mixed fury was starting to give her a pounding migraine, but nonetheless she continued to throw a fit.

The little boy managed to pull himself away from his father's tight grasp. With a delayed response, his father tried to catch him in time but he slipped right through his fingers and quickly ran towards the car.

This head start, despite his short stature, allowed him to get to the car in time.

Upon reaching the car, he leaned inside and reached for her hands and she hastily grabbed his.

"Joseehuaah-" Letter by letter poured out of her mouth as she tried to say his name, but her emotions produced more tears. "I'm scrawrd. I donnn't wan-nnna go."

"Don't worry." He said trying to be the brave boy she believed him to be. "You'll come back."

His soothing words seemed to calm her down a bit, her tears quickly diminished and all that was left were her sniffles.

"You promise?"

"Pinky promise." Their pinkies intertwined and lingered there for a while.

His father was starting to gain on him.

Every step that he took towards his son, the time spent between the two shorten.

"Best friends forever?" She muttered before they were pulled apart. The space between them gradually increased but he still managed to say one last final word.

"Forever."

And then, she was gone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Present Day ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The morning rays hit the room ever so lightly casting the fluorescent colors from the window onto the wooden floor. An extended shadow of the giant window manifested itself on to the floor, creating a bigger image than it's actually self. Wooden frameworks consisting of artwork and family photos were nailed to the walls showing a multi-presentation of the family that lived there.
The light air of the household had this earthly scent, which wrapped around you and gave you this relaxing calmness.
After being mesmerized by the scenery the navy duffel bag I'd been holding onto dropped promptly onto the ground.
I saw a plastic sheet hanging over one piece of furniture. I grabbed the sheet and pulled it off. The layered dust that was on top of the sheet flew everywhere and I couldn't help but cough from the flying particles. The diamond printed arm rest looked magnificent against the dark oak floor. I continued to do this to the other furniture settings and the mahogany tables. Then I pulled the cotton blankets off the cabinets and carefully peeled some off of the wooden statues.
Afterwards they all were thrown into a trash bag that I collected from under the sink. The trash bag was then placed against the wall.
Against the wall was the duffel bag that I dropped previously, my hands reached in and pulled the speakers out of the bag. I shuffled through my bag for my iPhone and then connected it to the USB port.
Music started blasting out and I couldn't help but listen to the light harmonic sounds that the piano created.
I can imagine the musician behind the piano sliding his fingers across the keys and then suddenly I can see myself swiftly in a ghostly manner replacing him and taking his spot. I became him and his hands and fingers became mine.
And I suddenly was the one creating this music.
My feet followed the sounds as each key was being played, then suddenly without realizing it I was dancing along.
I wandered over to the front pillar and grabbed the broom leaning against it and swept the area. With the broom I danced and cleaned and hummed alongside the piano music. As far as my imagination took me my dancing could be that of a wonderful ballroom dancer, however imagination resides in fantasy and reality eventually overcomes it.
I was more of the athletic type anyways.
But if I have still continued when I was younger, I could possible maybe might have been a - never mind.
After I was finally done cleaning up all the dust collected over the years since my family has been gone, I looked over at the big wide window that illustrated the outside world. The window was framed with impressive chiseled swirls and exotic designs. Giving it a classical modern look. I've always thought that the framework looked like some huge picture in the middle of our living room. And the outside world looking through the mirror were it's admirers.
Joshua and I use to play next that window almost every afternoon.
Joshua.
My mind wandered over to the childhood friend that I loved and cherished dearly.
I wonder how he is. Does he still live here? Does he still love Pokémon? I wonder if he still has his collectible cards underneath his bed. How tall is he now? Is his hair still the glossy brown that I remember? Maybe he'll still have those thick black glasses that I miss. So many questions popped into my mind.
And I smiled.
I missed the way we always told each other things no matter how stupid they were.
"Joshuaha." The little girls lisp was due to her two front teeth missing. "Look what I have!" She pulled out something from behind her and showed Joshua.
Joshua stood; his thick black glasses reflected back what she had in her hand.
"Where did you get that?"
"From my mommy. Looky, looky. Look how shiny it is." A flat rock with elaborate turquoise designs became the center of their attention.
"Its pertttty." He emphasized. He held it in his hand and rubbed his thumb against it. "I wish I had one." A hint of sadness could be detected in his voice.
"I don't know why you're wishing for one. It's already yours." He looked up and through his choppy bangs; his look was one of pure confusion.
But the little girl had a goofy smile on her face.
He smiled too and said 'thank you.'
"Best friends forever?"
"Best friends forever." He repeated.
A smile lingered on my face as I remembered all the good times we had.
I heard the sounds of an engine dying and looked outside of the window.
My smile brightened even more as I realized who it was.
I ran to the front door and pulled it, but being the total dork I was, I locked it previously. I unlocked it and pulled it open. The sun's rays hit my eyes and it took a while to for me to see, but suddenly three bundles of fur attacked me.
"ANDY!"
