Ted and Daniel murmured a hello before emerging from the dark corner they were all sitting. Although my legs felt like jello, I hugged both of the boys tightly causing them to groan.

"I thought you guys just left for Europe without saying goodbye." I said sadly.

"We didn't. We've been here for like a couple of days already surviving on bread and water." Ted complained.

Brittany smacked him in the back of the head. "What do you expect, Ted? We're hostages."

No, this can't be happening. I thought to myself. I had a nagging feeling that Medio Terrae kidnapped me. I wasn't expecting that they would kidnap my friends as well. What would they want with them?

The slivers of light that came into the cramped room was from the small barred window close to the ceiling.

"Ted give me a lift. I need to see where we are." I said.

"Why me?" he complained as he struggled to get up and push me closer to the barred window.

"A little higher, Ted." I ordered as I saw a glimpse of grass and flowers. Ted groaned from underneath me while I felt his arms shaking and struggling to push me up.

"What do you see, Celeste?" Brittany asked.

"We're in someone's basement, apparently. I see flowers and grass from this window." I informed them.

"Can I put you down now?" Ted asked panted.

Was I even that heavy?

The door to our right opened revealing a young man who seemed to be in his late twenties, at least he looked to be in his late twenties if it weren't for the angry puckered skin that dominated half his face. He had dark hair hair and eyes except for the other one that was covered with a black eye patch.

"You're awake." he declared, his voice deep. There was something about him that seemed so familiar, except I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

Ted put me down and I fell on my knees groaning. "Obviously." I groaned.

"Follow me outside. The leaders want to speak with you." the man ordered. I didn't know what to call him, so in my mind, I decided to call him Scar Face. I'm horrible but being kidnapped and still recovering from a death of a friend would do that to you.

Scar Face walked out of the room with the door wide open and leaving me and my friends alone together. When he realized that I wasn't following him, he peeked his head back into the room. "Your friends could come too if they want."

My friends and I looked at each other deciding whether we should follow him or not. I was curious, but I was afraid as well.

Scar Face didn't have the same tattoo that most Medio Terrae men I've seen. Perhaps it wasn't Medio Terrae that kidnapped me and my friends...

Perhaps it was another group who was after me Angelo, Daemon, and my loved ones. The simple thought of another group being after us scared me.

But my time of being afraid has expired. It's time to face another fear, starting by following Scar Face outside the door of our prison.

My friends and I huddled close while we followed Scar Face through the grand hallways of the mansion (not a house) that we were actually in. The walls were filled with portraits of unfamiliar faces with tattoos of a broken cross with a dying snake wrapped around their forearms.

Medio Terrae. I thought.

We held each others' hands which reminded me of the time when we first came to the Nether Realm with Daemon lurking in every corner.

This time, it was a group of psychos we were afraid of.

"We're here." Scar Face announced as he stood before two large mahogany doors. He pushed them open while using his other hand to shove us all inside the room.

I tripped on my feet causing me to land on my knees and arms. Brittany helped me up and I faced from what I observed, the members of Medio Terrae. The members ranged from men and women, young and old. The older member of the group had the same tattoos the people in the portraits had. All of them wore grim expressions as if they all recently lost a family member or perhaps a dear friend. They began whispering among themselves when my friends and I entered the room.

Regardless of what they may say about me or my friends, I gave them my deadliest glare as I scanned each and one of the members. Like the Red Sea, the members split in half, giving space to an elderly woman whose red high heels clacked loudly with each step she took.

"No need to be so hostile towards us, Celeste." she tsked, the grays of her hair glinting brightly. Although her features were wrinkled with age, I could tell that the old woman was a beauty when she was younger.

"I apologize, the after effects of being drugged and kidnapped would do that to you." I replied sarcastically.

"Kidnapped? Who would do such a thing?" the woman asked incredulously.

"How do you explain us being here then, old lady?" Brittany spat. Ted and Daniel glared at her silently hoping that she would shut up.

Scar Face looked like he was about to strangle the life out of Brittany if it weren't for the old lady's arm stopping him.

"I prefer to be called Minerva, Ms. Brittany Reed." the old woman, Minerva replied.

"And as much as you'd like to think you have been kidnapped Celeste, I assure you have not." Minerva took a few more steps towards me and my friends to the point that I caught a whiff of her overpowering perfume.

"After all," she began. "Family do not kidnap their own kin." Minerva ended with a smile.

I looked at her confused taking a step back and thinking that this old woman is psycho and that it's a miracle she hasn't been put in a home yet.

"What do you mean?"

"We are your family, Celeste. Medio Terrae is your family." Minerva said.
