Chapter 7

I knew it was time for Jade to be fed so I went looking for Liz since I needed her to show me where I could get her a bottle. I knew it wouldn't be easy since this mansion was like a maze, but after a little while of searching I found myself in an area that I couldn't put a name to but I saw a person in it and he was sitting in a chair. I walked over to him and tapped him on his shoulder, he looked at me alarmed but calmed down when he saw the baby. The guy looked my age and he had chestnut hair and brown eyes and he had tanned skin. He gave me a warm smile before speaking "Can I help you?" he asked "Jade needs to be fed and I was wondering if there were any bottles in here." "Oh no but follow me I know where they are." he said He got up and we started walking, it was silent as we walked and I felt very uncomfortable so I decided to make small talk "My name's Love by the way" "Matthew." he said "So Matthew do you work here?" "Yea I'm a butler."he said "They have butlers here?"  "Yea but we stay in another part of the mansion since they don't want us...conversing with the maids" he said "Oh." I blushed slighty as I started to understand what he meant

We continued to talk and getting to know each other. Soon we came to a stop and we were in another kitchen, he then went to the fridge and got a bottle for me. I heated it up then started to feed Jade "Thanks for your help." "No problem." he said I turned around and started to walk back to my room but I noticed that he was following me "What are you doing?" "Oh sorry I just...sorry." he said I laughed at his nervousness "It's ok, if you want to follow me back to my room and hang out you can."  He nodded happily and we started our walk back to my room. We got lost once in a while but we made it there. By the time we got there Jade was finished with her bottle, I sat on the bed and started to burp her. Matthew sat down behind me and watched Jade as she let out a big burp "Whoa!" she giggled as I looked at her surprised. She started to laugh even more when Matthew made faces and I joined. But then a foul oder hit me "Oh looks like she needs to be changed." I laid her on the bed and went over to my dresser, I got a diaper, some wipes and baby powder then went back over to the bed. I unbuttoned her onesie and changed her diaper, once I was finished I wrapped the baby diaper threw it away. Jade was starting to look sleepy so I picked her up and started to rock her, Matthew looked on in awe as she slowly started to fall asleep "Is it hard to take care of a baby?" he asked "Yes but I've done it before so I have a little experience." "Oh." he said It was silent again with the occasional baby noise but I was still feeling uncomfortable "So why are you here?" "I'm working here for the money." he said "That makes sense." "Why are you here?" he asked "I was forced to be here by law. You know once a girl turns 16 she will be taken away to serve another family in any way they want. It makes no sense to me but I have to get used to it if I wanna survive I guess." "Why did you put it that way." he asked "Because I hate it, I hate this place, I hate the law, I even hate the Master in this place." "Why?" he asked "Why do you ask so many questions?" "Because I'm curious." he said "Or just nosey." "That too." he said I stared at him for a little while as he stared back "I like you, you're my new friend now." "Well I've never been forced into a friendship before but ok." he said I laughed at his response "Well at least in our free time we can get to know each other a bit more." "Sure." he said excitedly

We spent the rest of the day talking and gawking at Jade and by the end of it I made a new friend.
