Seth and Lux sat in silence for the rest of the train ride, Lux continuing to glance at Seth every 15 seconds, like she was going to lash out in a jumble of swear words.

"Are you normally this rude?" Lux asked, intrigued.

"Are you normally this nosy?"

"Just saying."

The train suddenly went upright, causing the two girls to jerk to the side violently.

"Ugh," Seth muttered, picking up her books, which had scattered across the floor.

"Let me help!" Lux said, jumping out of her seat to pick up some more books.

"No, I'm-" the train jolted upwards again, so that Lux toppled onto Seth, causing them to bang heads.

"Shit!" they said, getting up.

"Told you not to help," said Seth, "anyways, it looks like we're stopping, hurry up and get your things."

Lux huffed and grabbed her stuff, stalking out of the compartment door, annoyed at how straightforward Seth was.

Seth followed her out of the train and onto the sand, where the other students were waiting. She pushed her way along the crowd to a group of girls that looked the same age as her.

She huddled into the group of black-coated vampires, blending in perfectly, except for her poofy, long blonde hair and red lips.

Suddenly, a strict looking woman came up to the first-years. "Hello, everyone, I am Headmistress Varento, and you all must be the new batch of students!" she said in a brisk tone.

*Some half-hours later*

After a short (and confusing) tour, Varento showed the students the assembly hall. It was amazing.

Imagine a great big meadow, with bunches of waterfalls, ponds, and a lagoon with mermaids preforming a show.

"Over up there, yes, that's the mermaid show, every group of species will be doing one for you."

Seth felt somebody punch her on the back. Annoyed, she turned around to see Lux.

"This place is pretty cool, isn't it?" said Lux, smiling mischievously.

"It would be, if you just turned around and walked away," Seth hissed, "go, I'm trying to listen to Varento!"

"And just choose who you want to stay with, and mark it on this sheet after dinner." the Headmistress ended, walking up to the middle of the room.

"Now, let's all welcome our fellow first-years!" her voice rang out, clear as day.

On that cue, all the students started to sing, a booming warm welcome.

After that, Varento called each of their names, one by one, to hand them a map and a schedule for their classes.

"Dracula, Seth!"

Seth quickly walked forward, stepping over Lux's outstretched foot in an attempt to trip her.

Seth gently took the small, rolled up scroll from the Headmistress and returned to the group, nervous about what subjects she would get.

She slowly unrolled the scroll.

"Lewis, Lux!"
