These were the first steps of their second chance on forever, and these steps were exhilarating and petrifying at the same time...

Lauren was going through her things in her purse, making sure that she had everything she would need before she leave when she heard a knock on her apartment door. She quirked her eyebrows in confusion, she didn't expect anyone at this hour, and why would she; she supposed to make her way to pick up Camila for their dinner date.

She put down her purse and made her way to open the door, not bothering to look through the peep hole, wanting to get done with it immediately.

What she saw behind the door, she wasn't prepared for. But even though her mind needed a second to process everything, her lips just instinctively formed a smile. "Hi..." She breathed out as her smile only got wider. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to pick my date up, who looks absolutely stunning by the way..."

"Thanks... You look beautiful too." Lauren reciprocated, looking at her better half appreciatively. Granted they were on rocky grounds, but it didn't change the fact that with every fiber of her being, Lauren was still certain, she was meant to be with Camila and no one else.

After the devastation that was their divorce, Lauren had determined that she would spend the rest of her life in solitude; she didn't see the point of trying to move on. Or maybe she just didn't want to let go.

"And these are for you..." Camila revealed a bouquet of white lilies and red roses from behind her back, presenting it to Lauren with her left hand and a sweet smile on her face.

"Camila..." Lauren sighed in amazement, pulling the arrangement of flowers close to her face. She exhaled gently, taking in the sweet scent of her favorite flowers. "Thank you, they are gorgeous."

"It's one of the things I took for granted..."

"What?"

"Never mind. Shall we?" Camila smiled charmingly, offering her forearm in a true 'gentleman' manner. Her head tilted slightly, waiting patiently for Lauren to link her arm in hers.

"Yeah... I just need to put these in a vase and get my purse. One second..." Lauren said, holding up one finger in passing. She disappeared into her kitchen area, scanning the space for a vase. When she found one, she swiftly filled it with water and carelessly put the flowers in it, she would do a better arrangement later on; later...when her fingers weren't trembling with force of excitement and anticipation.

She was nervous, though she knew she shouldn't be. Why would she be nervous? She had gone out on a hundred dates with Camila. But it's Camila, that's why. Her nerves had always triumphed over her logic whenever Camila was thrown into the equation. And she couldn't find her damn purse.

The universe is against me to... ah there you are... She quickly picked it up and wasted no time to saunter back to the front door. She found Camila leaning on the wall, wringing her hands in front of her body.

Camila looked back up, greeted by the soft gaze of her first and true love. She stood right up, straightening out her clothes out of habit. "Ready?" She asked softly, gazing right at the deep emerald orbs, trying to convey how happy she was for the second chance they both had decided to give each other.

"Yeah..." Lauren started, tucking strain of hair behind her ear. She bit her lip, suddenly feeling so unsure with herself. "Um..."

Camila saw the hesitation and it scared her, but she knew it was a good kind of scare. The kind that reminded her of all the things she could lose all over again and she would not risk it with being passive.
