His body lightly stirred amidst the warm silence of a new dawn. Forcefully, he battered his eyes slightly, to pay heed to the atmosphere. Subaru's sanpaku eyes met the ceiling-- one that seemed so familiar, from so long ago.
And then it struck him. What he had been doing previously, before seemingly falling unconscious, only to wake the next dawn, in a perfectly healthy physical condition. His mental state differed, however.
He died.
Another painful death, at that. He failed, and 'Return by Death' transpired.
Subaru immediately sat up, breathing heavily at the realization. If he revived back at a certain checkpoint, then they must have been safe, right?
"Rem--! Emilia--!"
His voiced was muffled by the same warmth of the dawn he awakened to.
