Chapter 36 - I'm Here

"It's your son, we have bad news.." the doctor said

"What is it?" Dad asked

The doctor flashed us a sad eyes "he's heart beat is low, and we're afraid he won't wake up.."

No.. No... NO!!

I put a hand on my mouth and walked backwards until I hit a wall behind me and stood there while tears starting to flow in my eyes. Vik instantly came beside me and put a hand on my arm

"What?" Dad tone changed from worried to scared

He went closer to the doctor just to not let me hear the rest.. Which is good. I'm not ready to listen to more things

I stumbled back but Vik held me "woah there" he sat me down on the chair and I felt his hands grabbed mine and held it tightly

"Calm down. Focus on your breathings" he said softly to me, I didn't notice my hands were shaking until I felt him intertwining his fingers with mine

I focused on my breathing and looked down at our hands.. I noticed how it fits together. Like a missing puzzle.

"Take a deep breath" I did as he said and closed my eyes

"Josh can you bring her a bottle of water and Simon can you bring Ashley please" Vik said in his serious voice

They both disappeared, leaving me alone with Vik

He pulled his hands away and I felt cold all of the sudden.

He stood up taking me with him to a bathroom. It was a unisex bathroom. he opened the sink and grabbed a tissue, wetting it a little and turn to me before gently and slowly wipe my remaining tears with the wet tissue

"Focus on something else" he said

It's like he knows I'm panicking inside.

"Calm yourself.. I'm here with you" he said softly before flashing me a small smile and I nodded

I stared into his brown eyes as he slowly wiped my tears I breathed out a chuckle "I probably look like shit"

He smiled before shaking his head "no you're still beautiful" he said, my body stopped working for a second, and I felt the rush of blood run across my cheeks. I looked down to cover up my now-red-cheeks with my hair

I heard him throw the tissue in the garbage before I felt him standing in front of me dangerously close.

I looked up and noticed his eyes were studying my red eyes

"You're okay.. I promise" he whispered and tilting his head a bit down at me — since I'm a bit shorter then him —

"Alex?" Ash's voice echoed through the bathroom I turn to her and saw her giving me unexplainable emotion

She opened her arms and pull me in a hug, putting my face on her shoulder and she held me tightly "he'll be okay, remember it's Drew he won't ever leave you alone. if he can punch a rock and not get hurt or scream then I'm sure he'll survive this"

The best thing about Ashley that she knows how to make a person smile and feel better. Her words are gentle and serious and sometimes mixed with a bit humour. That's why she's my best friend.

I nodded against her shoulder after a solid 30 seconds she pulled away and put her hands on my shoulder lightly shaking me "get yourself together woman"

"I-I'll try" i stuttered "you're a strong girl Alex" she said

"She's right, you're strong. fight for it Alex, don't let it pull you down" Vik said behind me

I'm not a fighter..

As if Vik heard my mind "you are a fighter" – he walked beside me – "Drew. Is. Going. To. Make. it" he said slowly

"Believe in that, the doctors are not always right you know" he continued

"What if--"

"What if you stop saying what if. that's the first step" Ashley cut me off

"Second step is, let's get out of this bathroom please" she said grabbing my hand and pulled me out with Vik following me

What is up with everyone pulling me?

"Here you go Alex" Josh said giving me the water bottle and I thank him

I let out a deep breath and sat down on the chair waiting for my dad to come and tell me the bad news.

As on time he came with a sad facial expressions "so?" I whispered

"They're checking on him, they said he might survive this. Maybe"

Maybe.. This word is the most hated word for me. Especially in a situation like this.

Vik sat next to me and I rest my head on his shoulder, my eyes slowly closed

"Take rest" he whispered in my ear

How can I..?

"I'll be here when you wake up, and I'll tell you if anything happen"

I guess that's how..
