I almost fell asleep on the wooden chair in 'Blacks' but hey, what can l do? I haven't had a good sleep for days, l keep having all kind of nightmares. Alex always comes to my bed when l dream bad and l fall asleep hugging him, but l still can't get rid of the guilt l feel for not being able to help my best friend Bethany. God, l miss her so damn much.

"Hi." she arrives and sits on the chair next to mine.

"Hey Maddison."
l say not even looking at her.

"Look. There's something you should know, and l know l'm not the one who should be telling you this, but since no one else feels like being honest these days, fine, l'll do the dirty job."

"You got my attention."
I would say that l'm not scared, that l'm not shaking right now and that l don't care at all, but that would be a lie.

"Huh. Okay, here, Alex is not exactly who you think he is. You may see him as a sweet jock who takes care of his one and only little girl. But, honey, that is not the person he is. He has some pretty bad history and l guess he never talked about last three years he spent in the highschool did he?"

I nod in disapproval. What is she talking about? No no, she can't break what Alex and l have. Her words are sweet and carefully picked but l can see that she enjoys every second of my misery.

"He used to.... um...." she looks at the distance trying hard to find the right word. "he used to date a lots of girls and he was the town biggest bad boy. He seems a little different now, but, l don't know, lf you ask me, he is still the same bad-ass."

Huh? I did not as hell expect that! Why he never talked to me?

"So when you say he dated them...."

She interrupts me. "Yeah, l mean he slept with tha half of the school."

I see she is very jealous.
I don't know what to think anymore. I feel anger and sadness and most of all confusion.

"I know it's hard to believe it, but trust me Sarah, l was one of those girls and l know how it feels."

Say what now? Okay maybe l should have stayed at home today. Or ever.
She sees my embarrassment and l can recognize a little evil smile in the corner of her mouth. I gotta talk to Alex. I gotta know why would he keep his life a secret.

"What's wrong teddy bear?" He says in his sweet husky voice. I swear, l can listen to it every second of my life an his cocerned little smile.... Okay, Sarah, focus.

"You tell me."

He looks at me like l'm the most precious creature in the world and it makes me melt.

"Tell you what?"

"Your last three years. I want to know everything." My eyes widen and he groans.

"She told you, didn't she? God, l'm so stupid. Baby, l wanted to tell you. I really did, it just.... it wasn't the right time."
He looks at me with his blue eyes and l can tell he is scared. Right now l just want to hug him and forget everything, but l have to do this now, before it's too late.

"Alex... l don't wanna be that girl who doesn't see the the truth because she is so blindly in love. I don't wanna be the one who everyone makes fun of because she's so damn weak."

He holds me close to him, his arms wrapped around my waist. Our faces are so close, more than l want them to be right now. God how can you be mad at him? He is so sweet and caring.

"Then don't." He says and puts my head on his shoulder.

"I was a stupid guy, Sarah. I needed someone in my life to change me. I'm begging you right now, can you give me a second chance? I promise l won't let you down."

I look at him nervously and l see he breaths heavily. This obviously means a lot to him.

"If you promise you won't lie to me ever again."

"I promise teddy." And he kisses my forehead.
