I had my earbuds in as the plane landed. My favorite song was playing. It was embarrassing because I almost started singing along with it. I got moved up to first class while my parents are still in coach. I may or may have not told them I was 21 and had a sip of champagne. (I would do that.) After I left the plane I waited in the terminal for my parents. They came out looking terrible and restless. They explained to me about screaming kids and we went on with our day. We headed to our new lakeside house. It was really nice. What kind of new job didn't dad get to get a house like this? No matter. The only thing that matters right now is getting the closest bedroom to the bathroom and claiming it as my own. But, my bedroom had its own bathroom. And my bedroom had its own closet. All the rooms were empty. (Like my soul.) I ran downstairs to find my parents almost passed out on the carpet. My stomach started to growl. "Mom, dad, I'm taking the car." I whisper-yelled. I grabbed the keys and ran out the door. Washington was going to be so much fun.

Thanks so much for giving this new book a lot of love for the start of it.
