Chapter 8: Hear Me

Maxine's POV

It was only 12:30 noon, but our timing was perfect. Kahit mainit, go lang! I found myself holding onto Jude, the reason for his gaze and smile. The sun was high, casting a warm glow over us as we stood there.

"Let's go!"

Pumunta na muna kami sa cashier para makabili ng ticket. Nang makabili na ay pumasok na kami sa loob.

"Let's try disk-o-magic!" Lorraine exclaimed, displaying her adventurous spirit. She's the type who would ride anything scary without a problem. She doesn't seem to have any fear in her body except for ghosts, if they really exist.

There are only a few people in line. Actually, there are only a few people here today because it's a working day and some have school. May mga naunang tao pa sa amin pero sabay-sabay lang kami dahil marami namang seats ang ride na 'yon. Inayos na ng staff 'yong sa may bandang likod namin. Ang sikip ng pagkakatulak niya sa may upuan hindi ako nakahinga pero mas kinakabahan ako ng mag-signal na sa speaker na aandar na.

Una mabagal palang este mababa maya-maya unti-unti na ang pag taas. The machine hummed to life, and the disk began to spin, carrying us on a wild ride filled with laughter and excitement.

"Whoooooo!!!" hiyawan ng mga kasamahan ko, knowing they enjoy the ride.

I felt dazed and overwhelmed by the experience. We were seated at the very back of the coaster, and I couldn't bring myself to close my eyes. Instead, I just stared straight ahead, taking in every detail of the ride. This was my first time on a disk-o-magic, and I felt like my soul had been ripped from my body, leaving me numb and disconnected from my physical self.

"Bal? You okay?" rinig kong tanong ni Jude. Natauhan ako ng marinig iyon, sobrang kapit ko sa may kapitan at diin ang pagtapak sa may lapag. Pakiramdam ko ay hinahagis ako sa ere. I know na safe naman ito pero iba pa rin ang takot na nadadama ko.

"Whaaa!" sambit ng katabi kong babae naiiyak na siya sa kaba.

As the ride came to an end, I stumbled off the ride, my legs weak, and trembling. Nakahinga na rin ako nang maluwag kahit pa ramdam ko ang pag-ikot ng sikmura ko.

"Sumakit dibdib ko sa seat. Asar!" reklamo ni Cyan.

"Mas masaya sa space shuttle! Who wants to join me?" matapang na hamon sa amin ni Kean.

Cyan's desperate plea filled the air, "Ikaw nalang! I don't want to die yet!"

Kean's response was dismissive, "Tss. You're not going to die yet, not now and not here."

Darren interjected, "Because Kean won't allow it!" He even saluted. Mapang-asar talaga ang isang 'to!

In the end, everyone agreed to try the ride. Beside me was Jude, in front of us were Sam and Kean, behind were Cyan and Lorraine, and Darren was seated with others.

Kahit safe 'tong inuupuan ko, natatakot pa rin ako. Hindi ko na alam ang sumunod na pangyayari, nanakit ang lalamunan ko kakahiyaw. Pagbaba namin Si Cyan halos hindi na ata makahinga kaya pinainom namin siya ng tubig.

"I told you! Argh!" galit na sambit niya nang makaharap sa amin, lalo na kay Kean.

"Okay ka na?" tanong namin at tumango siya.

"Yes, thank you."

After the scary rides, doon naman kami pumila sa rio grande, ang ikli lang ng pila since hindi naman fieldtrip ngayon kaya diretso na agad kami sa loob. Mostly kasi inaabot ang pila nito sa labas. Tamang-tama talaga ang araw ngayon.
