Jim's P.O.V.

Our Elders had gathered at our circle under the ancient Ash that gave its name to our pack. All the members were old enough to be my great - grandparents, we were a total of thirteen people, including me and Dan. We were waiting for the Council's messenger to arrive, we already knew the reason we had to assemble our Elders, there was a rumour that a Shifter girl had killed a human during the summer. She was told to have killed him using her powers and that put everyone in the Supernatural world in danger. We were waiting to find out what was needed of us, what we had to do to ensure another tragedy didn't occur in our pack. I was only hoping they didn't want us to chase and kill her...

"I think they have already issued the execution order." Dan said from beside me and something inside of me went cold.

"I don't think she killed for no reason." I told him and somehow I was certain, it had to be self-defense. There was a really good reason why the last known Shifter that had gone Rogue was sometime in the Dark Ages. It was far more common for a Werewolf - like us - to lose his humanity and go Rogue.

Some of our stories blamed it on the way we were created, by a god's wrath against a Shifter's family or by a Shifter getting bitten by a wolf are the most known ones. maybe it was a mix of both. Maybe that's why we have so few children, and most of us are Changed. But even if we bite and scratch avery human on the planet we will still remain a few hundrend wolves at most. See, most do not make it through the Change, others go mad and have to be put down and some, those that survive everything wish they could be just human once again.... Something that's just not possible.

Shifters on the other hand have the gift of transforming into an animal while always keeping their humanity and logic. They too have problems in reproduction but that's because for a Shifter to be able to Shift both his parents have to be Shifters and even then, the genes can skip a generation...

Dan was looking at me as if I had just come out of a UFO, "I know they don't kill for no reason! It must be self-defense or a terrible accident, but do you really think they will care for the reasons? They want total obedience from all species and tribes and will stop at nothing to make sure they have it. I'm almost certain we will have to find her and bring her to justice. Justice, there is no...." he stopped abruptly but I was already watching the circle's entrance as the earth wispered to me of the intruder who was wearing the Council's emblem on his cape. It was that connection to the earth in our territory that made it sure for us to know who would be the next Alpha, my successor might not even be born yet.

"Alpha and Elders of the Old Ash Pack, thank you for allowing me to enter your sacred circle. The Council requires your assistance in a matter of great importance." He said as he walked in the circle stopping a few feet before the middle and standing there as if he owned it.

His authority and arrogance had my wolf ready to attack him but I managed to hold my other self back to make him listen and pay attention to everything that happened on this meeting.

"As the Alpha of the Ancient Ash Pack, I welcome you in our midst. Please take your seat and let us begin." I said and knew that the night would last a bit longer this night.

Claire's P.O.V.

Friday morning passed as if it only lasted a few minutes and not several hours, it seemed that time had a mind of its own. So as I was running out of the building at 1:45 that afternoon in order to get to the Cafe before my very first shift started I was stopped when I hit a hard surface that I was pretty sure wasn't there a moment earlier. I felt the air leaving my body and I would have fallen on my butt if I was only human. As it was I managed to keep my self standing by taking a few hasty steps backwards. Good thing too, as I just missed being hugged by the stranger. "Sorry, I didn't look where i was going." I mumbled and tried to leave dodging him from the left.
