I Watch The Seasons

Spring

I feel the fresh new air of spring,
As it coolly blows from the east,
Crisp with the rising sun,
And colder with the final glows,
Before darkness descends on my forest,
The birds make their spring homes on me,
Ready to welcome their new generation,
While the young rabbit play by their burrow,
Until they snuggle up at night,
Waiting for tomorrow.

Summer

My flowers in full bloom upon my branches,
As the children throw their rope over my arm,
A playful swing to spend the summer on,
Fresh lemonade from home spilling over my trunk,
As they race around my firmly set roots,
The hot sun baking my bark,
Leaving my leaves a satisfied emerald green,
As they soak up the golden rays,
On the ever lasting long hot days.

Autumn

The cool crisp air strongly tugs my weeping branches,
Stirring my leaves, making them flutter in the wind,
Red, orange and yellow invade my forest,
As my leaves begin to change,
Unable to stop the yearly force of nature,
That's as strong as the ocean's current,
The loyal red robin here all year round,
Bravely begins to battle the oncoming cold,
His chest puffed out and his courage ever so bold.

Winter

My branches as bare as a new born baby,
As the snow descends upon,
The animals scarce as a patch of warmth,
As the cruely cold wind snatches away,
The potential warmth that the sun should bring,
A layer of snow to blanket the ground,
Leaving animal tracks open for everyone to see,
The whistling wind the only song,
In the silent forest that will wait all winter long.
