“Then you only have a few days left.” He walked towards me in surprise. “Why?”
There was a stagnant pause, I answered his question. “Personal reasons.” Personal, my ass. I don’t even know why I have to go back so quickly.
He looked shocked for the first time. Like he was shocked that I had something I couldn’t tell him. I mean we were best friends since high school. I told him everything.
“Sorry. It’s not that I don’t trust you. I just think that it’s not exactly for everyone’s ears. They’re personal reasons between Kyler and I.”
“It’s okay. I understand.” He sat down on a stool and looked as if he was considering something.
“I’m actually planning to leave tomorrow.” I broke the news to him.
“Why so soon? You just came back and now you’re leaving! I refuse to give you another vacation!” He got off the stool and stood up to his full height towering over me with his 6'1".
“Jay!” I felt my anger flare. “I am not going on a vacation! I’m just going to London to do my work. I’m making the dress in London. I’ll be working in London!” I huffed at him. We never argued this much in a row in the past. Recently, we just seem to have lifted the barrier to our resilience.
“Reni! We have to lead a whole company. You can’t just take off whenever you want!” He argued back.
“I know! But are you so inadequate that you can’t run it without me there?” I snapped back, instantly regretting my words when I comprehended them.
“Serenity…” He widened his eyes in disbelief.
“Jay.” I groaned. “I’m sorry.”
“No. You’re right. Go London. I can handle things down here.” I could tell a lot of things were being left unspoken, neither wanting to address them.
“Jay.” I breathed out. “The way you say that makes me feel so guilty ridden.”
“I’ll take you out for dinner!” He clicked both fingers as he said his idea, ignoring what I had just said. “Let’s go. I’ll drive.” He grabbed me hand and tugged me out of his beautiful modern mansion of a home.

“How ironic.” I started. “To be eating dinner at a Thorne Restaurant.”
He laughed. “As much as I don’t want to admit it, this is one of the best restaurants all round.”
“Mmm. I guess.” I cut at my steak and sunk into the luxury of the deliciousness.
“Reni, you know I’m always here for you.” He put his cutlery down and I sighed.
“Nothing’s wrong, Jay. He’s just my boyfriend.”
“He’s the heir to the Thorne conglomerate.” He gestured around the restaurant.
“I don’t need your approval to date someone Jay.” I spoke softly and I could see him tense visibly.
“I’m only thinking about you, Reni.” He sounded really frustrated.
“Jay, don’t ruin this dinner. I’m leaving tomorrow. Let’s make it memorable yeah?” I ended the topic and started a new one. “So, what happened while I was away?”
“Hazel got a perm. She looks fantastic.” He laughed and I joined in.
“She does. But I was referring to the work.”
“I knew that.” He smiled at his own joke. “Well there was that thing with Madame Agnés. Another label has asked us to sponsor their show. I’m thinking of rejecting their offer. They’re doing this really over elaborate show, costing four times as much as a usual elaborate show. I think they’re doing too much. I’m taking it to the boardroom.” He sipped at his soup and frowned as he spoke about it.
