“Serenity!” She kissed both my cheeks and ushered me in. “Come in! Come in!” She closed the double doors behind her and she sat me down.
“Let’s see this design draft you prepared.” She held out her jewellery adorned hand and I handed over my file. She flipped it open and ran her hand down the draft.
“It’s beautiful…” She began. “But I dislike the heart shaped area. Change that to a straight and it should be fine. Simple but beautiful. Brillante.” She switched back to French and murmured a few things.
“Is there anything else?” I leaned back in the chair, unable to believe that it would go so well.
“You need to make the dress now.” I could hear the silent of course that followed. Oh crap. I didn’t leave time to make the dress. My heart started to pound heavily.
“Pardon?”
“I need you to give life to the design.” She waved her arm over the paper, reminding me of how a fairy godmother would wave her wand over Cinderella.
“The wedding’s in four months correct?” I began to go over the dates.
“Oui.” She nodded.
“Is it okay if I make your dress over in London? I’m afraid I have business to attend to.”
“That’s fine. I do wish to see the completed dress in three months time though. I’m sure you know and understand why.”
“I do. That’s all I needed to know. Thank you.”

“Jay!” I popped my head round the corner and saw an empty kitchen. I headed to the living room and found it empty as well. I frowned. It was well past six and Jay should have been home already. He only stayed at the office the past four days to accompany me on the long hours I was working.
“JAYSON!” I yelled one final time, loudly hoping to get a response. Silence met my call and I sighed. I helped myself to a cup of water and waited for him at the island counter. After about half an hour, I heard the door unlock and sat up alert.
I heard a low murmur and I craned my ears, realising he wasn’t alone. He appeared in my line of vision, courting a woman in his hands. His mouth was locked with hers and he was just about to push her onto the counter when I coughed and he jumped a mile away from her.
“R-Reni!” He stuttered in surprise. The woman beside him slapped him.
“What’s this? You’re married!” I stood there dumbfound before speaking up.
“I’m sure we could have met under better circumstances but I’ll introduce myself. I’m Serenity Taylor, co-owner of Blaze. Jay, here is my partner at work. We don’t have a personal imitate relationship - just friends - not even friends with benefits.” I smiled widely at her, clearing up the misunderstanding.
“O-Oh, I’m so sorry.” She reached up to rub the spot where she slapped him.
I ignored the fact she hadn’t even greeted me. “I’m sorry to cut this lovely make out session short but I have a few work-related things to discuss with Jay. I’m hoping you could leave.” I stated my wishes bluntly and raised an eyebrow at both of them. Jay tentatively pulled the woman into an embrace and whispered a few things into her ear. Her frown was replaced with a smile and she left obediently, after giving Jay a kiss on the cheek.
“I’m so sorry Reni. I … wasn’t expecting you.” He looked like a deer caught in the headlights.
“That’s fine. Anyway, I came to tell you that Kyler’s expecting me back in London by Wednesday.”
