A Lovely Summer

Chapter 4 - Talks and Invites

   After he kissed me it was kind of awkward. I felt butterflies in my stomach during the kiss. Why did it have to be awkward afterwards?
It looked like he was about to say something, but I spoke first.

   "When do you plan on returning to your friends?" I asked since it was already two.

"Not until later. I told you, I want to spend the whole day with you," he said.

Awe.  That's sweet.

"Okay, I know where to go next,"

"Where?" He asked.

" It's  a surprise, duhh! Come on." I said while grabbing his hand.

    I led him out of the house and towards the street. I was thinking of taking him to the pools, but we were at the beach a while ago.
I guess I should show him around town.

"How long are you staying?" I asked.

"Until the end of August." He said.
 
   He still had a long time left since it is barley june.

"That's cool. You'll be here for a while then," I replied.

"Yeah, when are you leaving?" He asked.

"The first week of September," I replied.

"We still have a long time," he said.

"Yes we do,"
   I had a feeling our time would be short, but I quickly dismissed it.

" I hope we can spend it like this everyday," he said.

Aww, that's sweet.

"So, you want to skinny dip everyday?" I said jokingly.

"That's not what I meant." He said with a low chuckle.

"I know," I said as we walked farther away from my house. 

     "Ariela, mija," I turned to see a friend of my mom's.

"Hola Doña Lupe," I said politely.

"Mija, quien es tu amigo?"  She asked while looking at Zach.

"Se llama Zach. Es americano y lo acabo de conocer," I said.

"Dile que soy Doña Lupe y que es un placer conocerlo." She said while smiling at Zach.

"This is Doña Lupe. She says it's nice to meet you," I told Zach.

"Tell her it's nice to meet her " said Zach with a smile.

"Dice que es un placer conocerte." I told Doña Lupe.

    "Mija, mi sobrina va tener una quinceañera y aquí te traigo una invitación. Puedes traer a tu amigito," she said.

    "Le preguntare si quiere ir. Gracias Doña Lupe,"

   "Adios Mija," she said.

"Adios," I replied.

I looked at the invitation and saw the quince was tonight at 8. There is 7 more hours until it starts.

"Do you want to go?" I asked Zach while handing him the invitation.

"Sure, it's a party right?" He asked while looking at the invitation.

"Yes, it's a party to celebrate a girl becoming a women," I explained.

"As long as your my date, I'll be happy to go," he said while putting his arm around my shoulder.

I tried to ignore my heart as it started beating faster.

"What are you going to wear to the party?" He asked.

"Probably a cute dress and heels," I said.

"Okay, it's fancy right?" He asked. 

"Yes,"

We continued walking around town and I got to know Zach more.

"So, your 19?"

"Yes, I am. My birthday is November 4th. How old are you?" He asked.

"I'm going to be 19 on July 12th, one month from now," I said.

"That's great. I'll get to spend it with you," he said while kissing my cheek.

"It will be an amazing birthday then." I said with a smile.

We spent the rest of the evening walking around the town. By the time we got back to the beach, it was 7:30.

"I'll let you get ready for the party," he said.

"Okay, Do you want to meet here?" I asked him.

"Yes, I'll see you soon," he said.

I said my goodbyes and walked home.
