I wanna say he was on the phone with Y/N but really, what could Y/N do that frustrates Shawn so much? I mean, she did skip school but can he really get mad at her for that?

Anyways, I wanted to see the girls but my body needed my bed badly so I sent them all a quick text, telling them that I'll be going home first. Even though I didn't get a reply, I quickly made my way through the crowded hallway, squeezing myself in between students and went straight out the entrance door before walking towards the direction of my house. I put my earphones on as a I walked and blasted Happiness by The Fray from my phone.

As the song played, I couldn't help but wonder, how different would things be if I had made my move in freshman year. No, not flirting but talking to Y/N; having an actual conversation with her. Well, to come to think of it, it definitely would've been easier because in freshman year, she was just slowly rising on the social ladder. It only peaked when it was announced that she was the only freshman to be in the school's basketball varsity team.

Nonetheless, she was just as nice and humble back then, like she is now though and that's why I always had feelings for her because I knew her kindness and humbleness was always sincere and genuine. Of course, there are many other reasons contributing to my feelings towards her but honestly speaking, if I began listing it out, you're gonna have to sit down and listen for 10 years.

There was one specific memory that I had kept with me though, a memory that had confirmed my suspicions on her being a beautiful mess that she is. The same word she had said years prior to today.

It was sophomore year, she and I had shared both English & Chemistry classes together and during English period, we all had to read out our short essays in front of the whole class. Let's just say, I remembered every word she had said for her essay.

"Y/N Y/L/N?" Miss Isabelle called out, getting the attention of the taller girl and making all of our heads snap towards her. "Come to the front and read us your essay."

Y/N just nodded and stood up, pulling down the hem of her maroon Harry Potter hoodie to straighten it. She pushed her glasses on the bridge of her nose while making her way to the front of the class.

I gave her a once over, noticing that her hair was naturally flowing down her shoulders while it stopped just a little above her chest. Also, I was secretly loving the fact that she was wearing a Harry Potter themed hoodie with black jeans and the fact that she wore glasses herself, makes her look like a cuter version of Harry Potter. Hey, I'm only stating my opinion here.

The whole class was silent; so silent to the point where if a pin had dropped on the floor, it'd be the loudest thing ever. Everyone had their eyes locked on the basketball player, refusing to break eye contact.

Y/N glanced around the classroom with an adorable small smile formed on her lips before sighing heavily and saying, "To be happy; it's the most common wish from people," Y/N started softly but sternly before continuing, "Doesn't matter if you're the grumpiest or irascible person alive because deep inside, you'll want nothing but happiness," Y/N continued confidently, her small smile never faltering before adding, "But how do you really find happiness? Even if you think you know how, how are you so sure that you're truly happy?" Y/N rhetorically asked, her smile slowly fading away, "Because lets face it, the happiest person you know right now might be masking the biggest frown of them all."

As Y/N said that, I couldn't help but just study her words and just her in particular. I studied her expression and realized that she had her eyes locked on the paper she was holding, a frown obvious on her lips but it quickly was replaced by an insincere tight smile before she looked up, took a deep breath and continued reading her essay.
