So

I made a new Undertale AU

Yay

So, here we go:

At the end of a Genocide run, when Frisk has to give their soul to Chara in order to reset the timeline, Chara does something while resetting the timeline.
Chara lets Sans keep his memories.
And have the ability to keep remembering, no matter how many times things have been reset.

So, when Sans wakes up, he's pretty confused. And when Frisk shows up, he lost kills them, thinking that the same thing will happen as did last run. However, once he realizes that they aren't fighting back, he decides to leave them alone. Which lets Frisk complete a Pacifist run.

On the surface, after the barrier has been destroyed, he wakes up to see Frisk walking, alone. He goes to ask what's the matter, but when the turn around, he notices that they are holding Papyrus's scarf. It's Chara, and they pulls out a knife. Worried that Frisk might still be there, he doesn't hurt them. The last thing that Sans remembers from that timeline is turning to dust.

Suddenly, the world is wrenched around and he finds himself back in Snowdin, like nothing ever happened. So, he goes to wait for Frisk to show up again. When they do leaves the ruins, he's cautious, but doesn't attack them, deciding to keep a close eye on them instead.

And so, a Neutral run is completed. And then another one. Followed by a Pacifist run. However, Sans never meets Chara again, so he figures that Chara must be waiting for something.

Finally, ten runs later, Sans notices that as Frisk leaves the ruins, some dust follows, caught in a breeze. Not wanting to take chances, Sans doesn't come out and greet them, instead staying hidden. Chara seems to wait for him for a few seconds, like they didn't expect him to not be there, before they continues on.

Sans watches as Papyrus first greets them, thinking that he will be fine until Chara decides to leave Snowdin, from where he would intervene and stop them. But suddenly, Chara is standing alone, and Papyrus is a pile of dust, the only remainder is his scarf. Chara continues on.

As Sans is running to where his brother was, he notices a yellow flower just to the side. With his knowledge of the previous timelines, Sans knows all about Flowey. So he approaches Flowey, and after arguing, yelling, and death threats, Flowey shakily agrees to slow Chara down from finishing the Genocide run, but only as long as Sans can figure out a way to stop Chara forever. Sans says that he has the best way. He doesn't tell Flowey that he'll need Gasters help to do it.

Flowey disappears, to slow Chara, and Sans stays for a few moments, standing over Papyrus's scarf and trying to summon up the strength to move on. He finally leaves, teleporting to the lab that Gaster used to work at, knowing the place well because he used to help Gaster.

He waits for a while, but finally Gaster shows up.

How rude, Gaster. You know that Papyrus is dead.

And... Well, I would tell you the rest of the story, but that would spoil it, wouldn't it?

Sans ends up like this:

Also the world is stuck between resets because even though Frisk gave their soul to Chara again to restart the timeline, Chara refused to do so.
Na, Chara has plans.
But first she has to talk to Sans.
