****Okay so just a short A/N to let you all know that I posted two updates today for you all in the spirit of the holidays!! Plus I will be busy until after the New Year so updates won't be happening again until some time in January!! LOL Enjoy the double update!! :)****

I went back home to give them some privacy, as well as to try and enjoy the rest of my Sunday. Since ascending is a big thing in the coven all of our classes are cancelled for the week, giving everyone a chance to get things set up for the day the person will ascend.

The amount of power that is gained is never known, so it is always something that has to be prepared for. The stronger the power, the harder it is to control. One year we actually had a disaster happen as one of the girls couldn't control her powers.

Thankfully we do have a way to maneuver the powers until the person is able to control them, which is simple as we all stand in a circle and hold hands to route the powers in a circle around the person and keep giving them little by little until they are good.

I pull up to my apartment building to see a group of people I don't recognize standing around the entrance, getting a bad vibe I just casually drive by as if this wasn't my stop. I just continued up the street a ways until I came to Mel's place and parked.

Deciding to take advantage of this situation I head in to have a cup of iced coffee or something sweet. Hmm maybe I will get a mocha, I haven't had one in forever. I enter hearing the familiar ding of the over head bell, causing all eyes to focus on me for a split moment.

The cafe was busier then usual, there were a lot of strangers in town for some reason. I felt that uneasy feeling arise again as I found the only empty seat near the windows, furthest from the door. I have always been a paranoid person but this rang every warning bell in my head that it could. But still against better judgement I sat down and waited for the waitress.

Candy was the girl working the shop today, she was a lovely girl still in high school who was a hard worker and very determined. She came off as shy and timid but that girl had spunk and charisma.

"Hey Lauren, want your usual ice cream frappe?" she asked as she reached my table.

"No thanks, I am feeling an iced vanilla bean coffee today please Candy." she smiled brightly at me as she writes it down.

"Be back in a stitch." she chirped happily, oblivious to the tension in the atmosphere. I sat and scanned the area as discretely as possible to try and figure out who these people are. They are all mixed, some are pale like vampires and the others remind me of Beau and his friends, built like wolves.

Candy returns with my coffee and sets it down with a bagel with herb and garlic cream cheese, just the way I like it. I give her a questioning look and she just winks and walks away. I smile to myself as I sit and enjoy my coffee and bagel. My phone goes off in my pocket and I answer it.

"Hello?"

"Hey trouble, be careful." Beau's deep voice reverberated into my ear.

"Why what's up?" I question, trying to act like everyone in the area couldn't hear our conversation which I knew if they were what I thought then they all could.

"Just take care of your self trouble." with that he hung up the phone. I sat kind of dumbfounded as I stare at the screen of my phone. One what did he mean by be careful, two how the hell did he get my cell number?

"Hello beautiful lady, may we join you? It's such a shame that you are sitting here all alone." two of the pale gentlemen were standing at my table, blocking my way out. A bad feeling fell over me that instant and I did not like the looks of my situation.

"Well thank you for your concern but I must really be on my way. My parents are expecting me soon, but thank you for the offer." I smiled politely and made a move to leave but one man sat down beside me, and the other sat across from me.

"Sorry my dear but we must speak with you as it is urgent." the man across from me waved his hand and everyone else got up and exited the cafe. They even took the scared workers out and blocked off the entrance.

"Umm, and how can I... uh help you?" I questioned not liking the sinking feeling in my stomach.

"We have a few questions in regards to Alpha Beau." the man across from me smiles wickedly, showing off his fangs in the process.

"What does a wolf have to do with me?" I try to play dumb, using a quick spell to lock my heart rate at a steady beat so they don't know how scared I truly am.

"We know you are his mate child so do NOT play stupid with us." his hand slammed down on the table top and actually cracked the table, didn't break it but cracked it. The noise caused me to jump and lose concentration on my spell and I could feel my heart rate increase to the point it felt like it would jump out of my chest.

The vampire beside me took a deep breath and smiled as his fangs extended and his eyes bled to a deep red color. Both of them had their fangs out but the man across from me still had his brown eye color.

I just kind of cowered a bit further into the corner of the booth, unsure of what to do. I could probably use my magic but if they are wearing their family crest my magic is useless. The crest is a pendant that is passed down in the vampire lineage to prevent magic from affecting the person wearing it.

"Can I taste?" the man beside me kept leaning closer and closer to me as he spoke with his accomplice. Before he could answer my prayers were answered when the scene before me froze and my brother casually strolled into the front door.

"Come on Lauren, we have to get out of here fast. Mom and dad are on their way to the town hall with everyone else. Something is happening and these guys are the reason." I didn't hesitate as I jumped over the table, grabbing my cup and bagel in the process and running out the door.

"Lance what is going on?" I ran to keep up with his quick pace and long strides.

"The head of the coven has called everyone to the town hall as we have become over run with vampires and wolves. No one knows why." he didn't elaborate as we quickly arrived at the hall and I saw Shauna standing by herself while Trevor, Clayton and Janelle stood a little ways away.

I quickly thanked Lance and went over to Shauna and wrapped her into a hug, she wrapped her arms tightly around me and whispered in my ear.

"They want Beau and Max." she whispered in my ear, this caused me to tense up. I pulled away and looked at her, her eyes were wide and fearful.

"Does Trevor know Max is a wolf?" I whispered even quieter, trying to find out if we are going to be in trouble. She shook her head no as the head of the coven tapped a microphone to gain everyone's attention.

"Good morning everyone, thank you for coming. I have put a freeze spell on the whole village and gathered you all here today as we have become over run with wolves and vampires." there was a collection of people gasping and murmuring to each other.

"Calm calm calm please. As far as we know it has nothing to do with our coven, but I am not taking any chances. The chancellor has gone to meet with them and see what they want, but we are safe inside of this building." both Shauna and I looked at each other and hoped against all hope that no one points fingers back to us.

Before we could worry to much the chancellor entered the building followed by one of the men that had cornered me at Mel's place and a wolf, the only thought that ran through my head was oh shit. The man's gaze from the front of the room landed on me and he smiled.
