Chapter 15

Finally, A Surprise for Alice

I waited for Jacob to return with Kelton and Bradey from speaking to Chris, or whatever they were doing, at the main house listening to Alice's plans for Halloween. Apparently, we were going to throw an 1800th centry era themed party. She was now drawing out all the costume designs for everyone becuase she wanted to make all of them. Rosalie even got in on the planning and I waited on the front porch, frustrated, waiting for my husband.

The sun had set and I was growing even more impatient when I heard a vehicle turn on to our drive. I immediately sighed because it did not sound like Jacob's jeep. Instead, it was Carlisle. I watched as he passed the house to drive around to the garage and didn't even bother to move. I looked out into the darkened forest and sighed again. I couldn't help but wonder what was taking so long.

I listened to the conversations inside the house, from my spot on the front porch, once Carlisle made it inside. He didn't think that Chris was a shapeshift, at least not in the aspect as Jacob's kind. He eventually went to his office and started to make phone calls. By then I was so restless that I was ready to take off and find them but right as I took one step down, my Dad came outside.

"He will be back Renesmee. It would be best for you to stay here." His fatherly and overprotective tone grated on my nerves. Hearing my thoughts he looked saddened.

"Sorry Dad. I'm just-" I sighed.

Dad blurred over and hugged me. "I know sweetheart." He began to remember the events from when my Mom was still human and when she drove him insane with worry.

I always found those memories interesting to watch since, I only had one memory of her as a human and it wasn't very pretty.

"Why are they taking so long?" I muttered into Dads shoulder.

He didn't answer because he not only didn't know the answer but knew I didn't want a filler explanation, so he just kept hugging me.

It was another hour waiting on the porch before we heard Jacob's jeep turn onto our drive. By then everyone except Carlisle, Alice and Rosalie were outside on the front porch with me. All of us were tired of sitting there.

I didn't even let Jacob park his Jeep; instead, I stood in the road and waited for him to turn the Jeep off and get out. I wrapped my arms around his neck and took a deep breath in and then regretted it.

I stepped back coughing the awful smell out and looked back to him confused. "What is that smell?" I whinned.

The guys laughed.

"We played basket ball with Chris so, I guess we smell like him." Jacob explained and tried to wrap his arm around me.

I quickly backed up and held my hand up. He looked hurt at first but then just smirked at me. "Ah, come on, it's not that bad."

"Yes it is man, I can smell you all the way from the highway." Emmet laughed out his husky sound.

"What took so long anyway?" I took a few more steps back a way from the guys who were now walking towards the front porch.

All of my family that was outside had scrunched up faces from the smell, like I did and it looked very comical.

Carlisle was now outside too and he remained calm - like the smell didn't even phase him but I knew it did. His thoughts couldn't help but comment on it.

"What did you find out?" My Dad was the first to ask.

"Well, he has no clue about anything except, that since his attack, he hasn't felt better and feels stronger. He is just as strong as we are so he must be something. We tested him but he didn't even know any difference so there is something strange with him." Jacob explained.
