Told You (A Poem)

I wish I had told you,

in the woods,

that I found you

captivating.

I wish I had told you,

in the woods,

that I enjoyed

listening to your stories.

I wish I had to you,

In the woods,

that I cannot see anything

other than beauty in you.

And I wish I had told you,

in the woods,

that I wish we

never met.

I wish I had told you,

in the woods,

about how you make me

question my worth.

I wish I had told you,

in the woods,

that being in your presence

makes my knees shake.

I wish I had told you,

In the woods,

that I wished we could

stay sitting there for years.

But we didn't,

and we left the woods behind.

And I held my tongue,

Because some things are better left unsaid.
