The flame in the candle

quivered as I walked by.

I slid into the bathtub,

and the water sloshed onto the floor.

I sunk down into the warm ocean

I had made in the comfort of my home.

The crows outside my window

were seagulls.

And the ripples set off by my shallow breaths

were waves hundreds of miles high.

I stayed for a lifetime,

drowning in the tides.

Never in my life have I known eyes to speak,

but your eyes told stories.

They spilled age old tales of knights and dragons,

of kings and queens governing kingdoms.

And I longed for them to open,

and let me into a world of wonder.

I stared at the ceiling,

light reflecting from the water.

The light bulb next to the sink flickered,

and I was drawn back into the empty bathroom in which I lay.

I pulled out the plug,

and let the ocean drain away.

And I rinsed off the salt,

and I made sure to blow out the candle.
