Decided to upload two chapters because I felt bad for the lack of updates (and short chapters).

"What's that?" Zoro boomed, making his daughter visibly flinch.

She looked over at her father with a sheepish smile, "Well, it's a Devil Fruit."

"I knew that," He grumbled, "I mean, how did you know it was there?"

"You never said-"

"Just answer the damn question!"

Ayame flinched again at her fathers harsh tone, tears welling up in her eyes. "W-well," Her voice cracked, "I didn't say I knew it was here."

"You led me to this exact spot," Zoro said in a low voice, "If this wasn't what you're getting, then what is? What else could you possibly be looking for in this God damn forest?"

Ayame whimpered, looking down at the Devil Fruit she twirled in her fingers. "It was mom..." Her voice was barely above a whisper, "She said in her notes that there had to be a Devil Fruit somewhere in this forest."

"How could she possibly know something like that?" Zoro's hands flew up in the air, then flopped back down to his sides in exasperation, "She lived in the East Blue for Gods sake!"

"I don't know!" Ayame shrieked, "I can't read her crusty hand writing!"

Zoro couldn't help but laugh at her comment, though eventually forced himself to stop. "Okay, what did it say," He asked in a calmer voice.

Ayame felt her heart steady, a small smile reaching her face as she wiped her eyes a little. "She said something about people finding one Devil Fruit on each island, and that the Grand Lind and the New World shouldn't have been any different." The child thought for awhile, contemplating her answer a little more before wording it out loud, "She also said that no one could find a Devil Fruit anywhere here, and that's why it has such a low population. People say it's cursed or something,"

Zoro stared Ayame down, examining her face for any faults. Eventually, he let out a sigh, shaking his head. "Why'd she need a Devil Fruit?"

"Well," Ayame started with a big grin, "As I said before, you're gonna have to wait and see."

The child rose from her knees, shoving the Devil Fruit into her pocket as she dashed through the previously cut path. Her father sprinted behind her, yelling at her as he attempted to match her speed.
