Harry and I spent long, arduous days alongside the servants, and even some villagers who were willing to help, cleaning, repairing, and restoring the castle. The full process would take months to be sure, but in a week's time, we had made a great deal of progress. The fact that Harry and I were participating in the work surprised a great many of the servants who had suffered under Ernesto's cruel hand. A few of the Styles' family attendants remained from before the evil king had taken reign, some out of loyalty to the queen, some simply because this was all they had ever known. She had protested that such indulgence should be wasted on her, but Harry insisted and I fully supported him.

Harry hadn't told his mother much about our relationship yet. What was there to tell, really, that wouldn't scandalize her or embarrass me? It surely wasn't my own fault that I'd been kidnapped, but the fact that Harry and I were no strangers to passionate sexual encounters would leave me utterly humiliated before the queen.
