He places his hand above his heart and coos. "It would be a pleasure getting killed by you, Pret–"
"Say that again and I swear to God.." I warn him with a hard voice.
He rolls his eyes. "Fine, fine. What's wrong?"
I stopped. I stood straight, my arms on either side of me. Eyes wide and mouth agape. My eyebrows were knicked together and raised as I watched him. He didn't move. I didn't move.
Is he serious?
"Are you seriously asking me what's wrong?" I ask.
He nods his head slowly and his eyes looks around the place. "Yes..?"
"You are asking me what's wrong?"
"Yes."
"You are ask–"
"Yes, Lucas! Yes I am asking you what's wrong!" He shouts at me.
I wave my hands in mid air at the stairs, aiming for the kitchen where you could hear his mother singing happy songs and cooking dinner.
"You told her I'm in a relationship with her!?" I whisper shout, not wanting her to hear.
"Well, yeah." He shrugs, as if it was nothing wrong.
I slam my hand on my forehead. "Why, why, why, why would you do that?! You know she doesn't like me and I–"
"Yet." He adds.
I roll my eyes, "She doesn't like me yet. And you know I don't like her and that I am–"
"Yet.." I hear him murmur under his breath which makes me stop mid sentence and just watch him.
"Excuse me?"
He looks up and hums a "Hm?"
I arch my brow at him and I start taking slow steps closer to him. "I said, excuse me?"
"Oh, yes of course." He waves his hands in mid air and laughs. "You don't need to apologise, I understand you have to call and invite her, Lucas. It's okay, you go."
I grab him by the collar and glare at him. "I am not calling her over. You, however, are going to go downstairs and tell your mom that Riley Matthews is not my girlfriend and that you lied."
He heaves a sigh. "Lucas, you're trying to make her fall in love with you, am I right?"
I nod my head. "Yes, but Zay that was–" he cuts me off.
"And you want her to fall hard and fast, am I right?"
I nod once again but I never speak.
"And she hates you, right?"
I nod again.
He gives me a big, poker smile and says, "So why not make her pretend to be your girlfriend! She will have to act all goofy and cute around you, calling you nicknames and so will you. Mom will compliment about how the two of you look like such a great couple and she will start thinking about it, wouldn't she?"
"So you mean, if she pretends to be my girlfriend, she would fall in love with me faster and I would be done with this bet?"
I asked just to be sure about what he was saying. How come I haven't thought about this before? It was brilliant! If she have to pretend to be my girlfriend I would have to hold her hand, waist, kiss her and call her names. And so would she. Meaning, she would fall right into my little trap and once she falls, she won't be able to get up. She'll be stuck. I'll have her in the foot of my palm. I would be the one to win the bet.
"Well at some point someo–I mean, you'd have to win, right?" He says with a laugh.
I chuckle and give him a pat on the back. "You are brilliant, Zay. I'm gonna call her."
I walk out of his room, shaking my head at his idea. It was brilliant but still felt a little bit stupid. She wouldn't agree I was sure of. I hope she does, then I would win this bet and everything will be off to finding a new girl, play and then throw away. Riley was more complicated than I thought. I had only giving this bet a little more time because I wanted her to fall hard. Little by little everyday. That was my plan with this one.
But she wasn't even near the first step. Sure, we went on a date. It was fun but is she falling in love with me? Am I doing something bad that makes her not fall for me? Or am I too good?
I walk inside the spare room which they had turned into my room since I spend all my time over here and not at home. But could you really blame me for that? Having a dad that would beat you up everyday and that hates you more than anything? Not really what a kid wishes for.
I picked up my phone from the bed table and I started scrolling through my contacts until I reached her. Shaky.
Hey, I had to name her something more than just her name.
I clicked the green button and placed the phone to my ear waiting for her to pick up.
Ring,ring,ring.
"Hello?" A sweet and innocent voice said.
I smirked. "Hello, Shaky."
