Eren P.o.v:

I took a deep breath as I walked through the double doors of Maria high school.

Sure, I enjoyed my old life back in Germany but it was boring to be completely honest.

My dad, a highly successful doctor, got a job offer in America and when he'd gotten our permission, our small family moved there for a 'fresh start'.

But anyway, back to the present.

I made my way over to the front desk and cleared my throat, getting the receptionist's attention.

"Hello dear, can I help you?" She asked with a motherly smile.

"Uh... My name is Eren Jaeger... I'm starting here today? I was told to come to the reception and get my timetable." I said clearly, hoping that I'd come to the right place.

This school is a maze and I've only been here five minutes.

"I see, give me a second."

She typed on her computer for a few seconds before the printer started up and my timetable was spat out. She pulled a pen from her grey locks before writing my name and homeroom onto the paper.

"There you go Eren. You've got homeroom at the moment but there's only five minutes left... Would you like me to walk you to your first lesson so you don't get lost?" She offered as she passed me the sheet of paper.

"Oh, are you sure you can leave?" I asked, pointing to her otherwise unoccupied desk.

"Yes, its okay. I'll only be gone for a little while."

"Uh... If you're sure it's okay, that'd be great, thanks."

I think I'm gonna like it here.

We turned down lots of different corridors and went up and down many stairs until eventually we reached my new english classroom.
I thanked the receptionist again and watched as she walked away.

I noticed the toilets were just a little way down the hall and I checked my watch before making my way towards them.

Once there, I fixed my hair in the mirror and adjusted my clothes so that they didn't look as creased.

Suddenly, the school bell rang loudly throughout the school and the sound of chairs being scraped across the floor echoed through the halls.

I took a deep breath before leaving the toilets and making my way to the door of my classroom.

The lesson hadn't started yet but mostly all the seats where filled and the teacher was typing something on his computer, not bothering to quieten the chattering students.

I took another deep breath in before reaching for the door handle and twisting it.

Every head turned to me as I entered the classroom, a few whispers started up as I walked to the teachers desk.

"You must be Eren." The teacher said with a small, reassuring smile.

I nodded my head, pulling my backpack more securely on my shoulder and glancing around the room, all eyes were on me as the teacher tried to find me a seat.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Mr Pyxis. There's a seat over there next to Armin if you should like to take it... Armin please raise your hand."

A boy with blue eyes and blonde, shoulder length hair raised his hand timidly and I walked over to the seat next to him with my head down.

"Hey..." Armin whispered as Mr Pyxis began to explain our task.

I looked up at him and waved awkwardly. I'm not the best at making friends...

Armin chuckled and shook his head in slight amusement.

"Where are you from?" He asked, making sure nobody but me could hear him.

"Germany."

"Really? That's so cool man." Armin said with an expression of pure jealousy.

"It's alright, I guess." I said with a smile.

Armin smiled at me but didn't say anymore, as Mr Pyxis kept scanning the room.

Eventually he finished explaining what we were supposed to do and allowed us to talk quietly as long as we were doing the work.

I was midway through a particularly interesting conversation with Armin about mythical creatures when I felt something soft hit my head.

Turning, I saw a scrunched up piece of paper on my desk. I looked up and around the room until I made eye contact with someone.

On the far side of the room at the front, sat none other than Jean Keirschtein... my ex boyfriend.

I gasped and choked on air as our eyes met and I felt my face burn as some heads turned in my direction.

With my red, embarrassed face hidden behind my hands I continued to cough and splutter which earned me some giggles.

"Eren... You okay?" I heard Armin ask from beside me.

"Yup... S'all good... I'm fine.."

I waited until everyone was writing again and turned to Armin.

"Hey Armin... That guy over there on the far left... Is his name Jean?" I asked casually.

"Jean Keirschtein yeah... how do you know? I thought you moved here from Germany?"

"I did... So did he... He's my ex boyfriend..."

I watched Armin carefully as I said this, waiting for his reaction.

Armin paused what he was doing with a shocked expression on his face, and then he started to smile.

"You... you dated Jean!?" He spluttered as he tried to contain his giggles, notice the word tried.

Heads once again turned in our direction as Armin went red in the face with supressed laughter.

"Armin... did you just say the new kid went out with Jean?" Asked a smart looking bald kid two seats away from me.

Armin nodded with a hand muffling his giggles as me and Jean shrunk down in our seats, trying to avoid as much attention as possible.

One lesson in and everyone already knows I'm gay...

Awesome.
